sunflowe, no, you are not showing a profile!

BS, I totally agree re single sex school. Maybe they are different in the UK though.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 21/04/2009 21:23

works on mine.... is it still not working? how's your neck?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 21:27

gio my very rich friends friends swear by the YHA in king's cross - which btw it's very nice now. You can get a double en suite. They haven't got many so make sure that's what you get when you book. They've said it's great very clean and perfect. My mother's friends go there too. Apparently there's a new yha opened as well which should be nice.

uh let me see what you all said... [evil emoticon], I'm a bit education obsessed atm and having nearly f*ed up with the primary I am taking my time in understanding the secondary .

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 21:29

king's x it's nice I meant if it wasn't clear.

francagoestohollywood · 21/04/2009 21:33

It works now

Pippi, oh dear, I went though a similar obsessive stage when in the UK, and it is not good (imho). Luckily it didn't last too long. I'm now stressing again, but for completely different reasons, ie the uncertainties of the bloody riforma gelmini

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 21:42

oh I know franca, that's why I'm trying to store info. I'll be going back to my homedesigner notebook in a few days .

francagoestohollywood · 21/04/2009 21:47

I can't help but thinking that there is to much "choice" out there . School wise I mean... certainly not in the design area... there are never enough designers lamps in the world

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 21:54

i saw your thread on single sex schools! blimey you are looking ahead or what, my instinct is that i would like dd to go to a mixed school....but i think the research says single is better? then i suppose she will go where it suits her or where they take her.

dd ate lots for dinner, so i think she is better. phew! i just could not be bothered taking her to the gp (neglectful mum emoticon)

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:01

and i am lurking on the tandem breastfeeding thread. maronna mia.

by the way gio71 whenever you mention your fil i have this image of eduardo de filippo in natale in casa cupiello - not sure if you would know him, probably not, but that's what pops in my mind.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:03

I personally HATE single sex schools and would not wish them on anybody and I think I'd rather be walking on hot coals than send my dds to one.

having said that I think that all that has happened this past weekend has left me a bit vulnerable. I started thinking that not being brought up here hinders my understanding of what's good for my de facto 'british' dc. I know it's crap as I know, to a certain extent, what's good for them. still sometimes I think it's not right to apply my italian experience to a system that like you said franca is totally different from the core to its tip.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:06

yep i know.. i would consider them if right for dd..do you have a rough idea of which sec they would go to? i have earmarked one for mine

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:07

wasn't looking ahead btw. just curious to see why they are so adored. IMO there's nothing worse for both sexes.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:09

ahhhh so you are the one looking ahead! No not yet tbh. There's a lot of playground talk from those with bigger children but cannot be bothered to really look into it. It's too far ahead. we might move, split up, have a dump child that wants to join the circus or a genious one who'll work for MI5 at 10.

who knows. most of my plans do not stretch further than a couple of years at the most.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:10

i suspect that we wont' have a lot of choice, so will have to make some compromises. i am sure they will be fine.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:11

but that's why I am asking though, it might be that there's something I am missing about single sex schools or something that makes all that heartache worthwile. anyway maybe then I'll be more 'british' and fight my way into one.

we'll probably be discussing that. gawd imagine that. MN little italy 10 years on.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:13

exactly. I was turning my mose at the snotty CofE but I'd be very happy for dd to go there rather than in the middle of nowhere.

easy to be full of principles when the s**T is not hitting the fan.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:14

oh yes i did look ahead, moving is not an option, splitting is not an option either, if they are morons i know where they could go, and if they are brainy i know where it would be nice for them to go.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:16

i think local is essential. and it just needs to be good enough.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:19

There is a scuola bilingue statale not far from here which i would have loved for myself, but maybe they will join your dd at the circus.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:20

exactly that's why I'd have been happy wth any of my 4 choices. the fact that all of a sudden they 'threw' my dd into the unknown not good wilderness threw mw bigtime.

well, I am sure I'll have plenty of time to familiarise myself with. point is a good secondary here is in fact a same sex... hence the question I guess.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:20

oof to bed, night everybody.

i will try not to dream about tandem feeding a 3 year old and a baby, my boobs ache just thinking about it.

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:20

italian bilingua?

DamonBradleylovesPippi · 21/04/2009 22:21

No that'll be my worse nightmare.

off as well. night night

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:21

i guess all you need to know that if push comes to shove they could go there, maybe not ideal, but good enough, no?
and there is always the catholic route...but too hardcore for us.

McCloudismynewnameforawhile · 21/04/2009 22:22

no bilingue, prendono solo ragazzi bilingui, e' statale which is surprising but probably you have to sit an exam or something..
