hmm actually I don't think I would have done what you did.
I am a very careful driver and although I can totally understand why you wanted to get there asap, and I am sure I would have felt the same I would not have gone that fast.

Anteater · 18/03/2009 19:30

JeMenFous, sorry to hear that.
We live in one of the most rural places in the UK.
Duel C runs between Windermere and Kendal where you do not get children playing on the road because there are no children.

Was it the cameras at Ings ?

Anteater · 18/03/2009 19:34

ThisisY
I do not consider 49 excessive ob a duel C
I am also a very carefull driver and campaign for a 20mph thro all our villages, but this was not in a village..

it is excessive if the speed limit is 40.

Anteater · 18/03/2009 19:38

Hobgoblin
YES that is them, was travelling at warp 6 at the time but that is what the wrap sheet says.. (are you a certain Gs mother?)

OP posts:

clearly you think you are right. hence why you have 9 points and I have 0.

you were speeding. you were caught.
just put up with it.
if you don't like it then stop speeding.

Anteater · 18/03/2009 19:40

This is Yesterday, thank you for your advise.

Anteater · 18/03/2009 19:43

Yesty, what do you think about foxhunting?

OP posts:
hobbgoblin · 18/03/2009 19:46

No, am mother to Hs and Ms!

However, I used to live in Ambleside so know the route well - lived there before and after those cameras went up.

Of course, speeding is speeding and the only way to avoid the fine/points is to not speed, under any circs. I once drove a bleeding DS over Wrynose as he had a head injury. We met the ambulance in the village as it would have taken ages for it to get to us. I didn't speed because the limit was 60 anyhow, but I did drive madly fast for a twisty road tbh. so I kinda get where you are coming from.

You really, really must call an ambulance though and not feel bad about it. Better to waste their time a teeny bit (if it turns out) than to give them a bigger incident to attend.

Starbear · 18/03/2009 19:47

Sorry, A really police officer would not escort you. S/he would have been duty bond to get a ambulance to you. They get tickets too on duty, in a police car, if they are not going on an emergency call. They might turned a blind eye, then crossed their fingers.
Sorry, I've seen some police speeding accidents, not good. It better to get there safely than not at all.
I have 0 too now!
Made one mistake, lesson taught!

thisisyesterday · 18/03/2009 19:52

why all the weird Q's anteater??

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 18/03/2009 19:53

A friend of mine went through a speed camera while speeding taking his wife to hospital. She was having a severe asthma attack and was fairly blue on the back seat.

He successfully appealed against the fine/points. If he'd waited for an ambulance to come to them (out in the sticks, very hard to find isolated cottage) then she's probably have died.

Not sure though that they'd consider a fall as serious though.

However if it s a temporary speed restriction on a dual carriageway then I'm 99% sure you can appeal against the points. I definetly read in the paper years ago that points can not be enforced (but fine can be) on a temp speed restriction (unless a motorway).

Anteater · 18/03/2009 19:57

I bet those Ings Cameras make a small fortune, but I wonder if they actually prevent ANY accidents..? Cameras on rual duels = money making Bstd machs!

OP posts:
Nabster · 18/03/2009 19:59

Not if people take no notice they won't.

Just accept you are in the wrong and don't do it again.

thisisyesterday · 18/03/2009 19:59

actually, I don't think they are allowed to put speed cameras up until there has been a fatality are they?

will go and look that up now. but they certainly have to take other measures to reduce speeding first before doing cameras. they can't just stick them up anywhere.

Anteater · 18/03/2009 20:01

Yesty
Just checking you were not someone else who posted ages ago in your style!
Your obviously not

OP posts:
Anteater · 18/03/2009 20:05

Speed Cameras = easy income in rural areas and do very little to reduce accidents here

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 18/03/2009 20:08

I can't find anywhere that says about when speed cameras are allowed to be installed.
but I remember seeing a documentary about dangerous roads and some people petitionig for a camera on this really dodgy biut and they weren't allowed one because no-one had been killed yet

traceybath · 18/03/2009 20:08

I did speedchoice course very recently as caught speeding. According to our 'teacher' its a myth that speed cameras generate much income. If you put that money against the money spent on resources when accidents occur as a result of speeding its a drop in the ocean.

Any chance you'll get offered the course? It meant i paid the £60 but got no points.

Anteater · 18/03/2009 20:12

Hi traceybath

did one of those courses in Preston last year
dont tell the lynch mob tho, just keep it to yourself..
