Aka le Patatine

No, although I am leaning towards modern art at the mo. Something like a Hockney picture would be good. Must find a portrait of his. Otherwise it'll be Pollock....

That's really crap treatment Pippi.
Welcome beforesunrise

Read your thread, I hate that herd mentality on MN when everyone piles in.

I am British but have lived in Italy nearly 20 years. DD 4 1/2, DS 19 months.

We all have flu atm

Sputnik · 29/01/2009 16:17

I'm wracking my fevered brain for you Brange, as I studied art history. So far nothing.

You could send her in with bloody bandaaged ear.

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 16:18

Now that's an idea! Maybe one ear bandaged and the other with a sunflower behind it? Or would that be overdoing it?

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 16:20

Actually (pedant emoticon) according to many researches (the latest of one from an American University) the Italian primary sector fares really well.
I will quote Nanni Moretti here: "Chi parla male, pensa male, vie male!" Amen.

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 16:20

Is that how you ended up in Italy then?

I see you've got your connection back. did you threaten Tele2? We had them for 2 weeks when I lived in my old place and not once did I manage to make a phone call. They were duly and swiftly abandoned.

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 16:21

I can't stay, as ds is tantruming (or tantrumming?) and dh is useless.
Sput sorry to hear you are all unwell.

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 16:23

I did say they were good at primary level, honest! It's medie level that everything goes downhill, or so it said in Repubblica (so it must be true...)

Got to dash and pick up DD from ballet. Ciao!

hothell · 29/01/2009 16:35

what about dressing up as a servant of Vermeer's with an apron and fazzoletto in testa? what about something from a famous photo? one of nan goldin's crack addicted transexual?
ds in school learnt to make compost where he will be planting his seeds for his own little pants. and last week he learnt to make make paper hats! lol.

Sputnik · 29/01/2009 16:37

No I'm using a mobile phone.
I was quoting that report on the schools to DH but he dismissed it saying they just looked at Emilia Romagna or something.

My ILs are offering to contribute to sending DD to an english school, but I'm not sure tbh as a) we're about to take on a huge mortgage b) people say the elementari are ok c) I'd rather save money for later and send them both at edie age, so they have the possibility of going to UK for university.

(which is why I'm here incidentally as DH did that and we met at uni)

if she is girly she will love to put the make up on...

Sputnik · 29/01/2009 16:38

you could send her as Tracy Emin's Bed.

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 16:59

Doesn't that one on the left look like Posh Spice?

great ideas ladies, keep them coming in. I'm not sure photography is allowed, but I will check as that offers more options. I think I might give Nan Goldin a miss though, as otherwise DD might risk sociale services for drug abuse.

Hot, your DS is growing his own pants? Now that is lentil weavery.

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 17:01

Damn! DP's broken the toilet.

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/01/2009 17:02

LOL!! HOW!!!

I expect my DH to that anytime...

Brangelina · 29/01/2009 17:08

I don't know, but I suspect a number 2 was involved as he used the big flush. It seems to have gone quiet now, maybe it's not broken after all (here's hoping). It was makiing curious rattling noises I'd never heard before. Probably digestion.

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/01/2009 17:13

yup, that's a daily occurence in our house when dh or dd1 go...

PippiCalzelunghe · 29/01/2009 17:14

DD is actually changing herself as I write. She got fed up of waiting for me to get off here

Sputnik, somehow I can't picture you among the mothers who send their kids to English school in Italy... as much as i couldn't see myself... which was one of the reasons (apart from the fees ) why we chose state school at the end. When I went to visit SJH here in Milan I saw a driver in a uniform in a black SUV with blackened windows waiting for a child to drive home !!! Somehow all my friends who were good at state licei here in Italy managed to get into English Universities...

beforesunrise · 29/01/2009 17:37

Franca!!! that's my all time favourite quote, and a bit of my motto!!!!! I am all emotional now at having met a kindred spirit...

francagoestohollywood · 29/01/2009 17:46

here and here I tend to lure people to this thread using Moretti ... I've done so already with Penthe
I can't find the chi parla male pensa male vive male though!

Penthesileia · 29/01/2009 18:08

Hey all.

Yes, lured here by Nanni Moretti. God love 'im. And franca too, of course!

Brange - look here for inspiration.
