LOL at salt and pepper and warning trees

You know Sal, I can find a home for that seasoned wood if it would help...!!!

So, I can just leave it outdoors for a year? I had visions of having to store it indoors somehow.

You haven't lit your fire yet??????

It's been fecking freezing woman!

We're getting through logs like no-one's business and it's costing us a fortune. Have been wandering round Heath Park seeing fallen trees and wondering whether we could drag them back to the house. Or if that's somehow morally wrong cos it's clearly council property...

Have seen a couple of farms selling logs but they need seasoning. Hence question. Where you getting yours?

Oh I used to work at St Fagans. Might have stayed if I thought I could get good wood!

Sadly we bought the coldest house in Cardiff so the central heating hardly touches the sides.

Will have a look on the A48 tomorrow. Thanks for that. I don't mind buying now for next year, but could do with something cheaper than B&Q for this winter.

MMC - give your council a call on monday and ask them who is responsible for the wood cutting. Chances are you'll end up talking to someone who tells you you can have it.

Oooh, does that work?

Will try.

Not holding out much hope given numpties on local council main services number, but I will give it a try. I have looked enviously at the men chopping down trees and wondered what they do with the stuff. Thank you.

Why do you want to season it?

My dad used to stcik small chunks in the microwave.

Dont' you have a wood shed?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 03/01/2009 23:25

OP posts:
MaryMotherOfCheeses · 03/01/2009 23:27

Apparently need to season it cos green wood gives off nasty stuff which can damage inside of chimney. Don't want house to fall down.

LOL at idea of microwaving logs.
