Thought I would start another interesting thread, this morning while out with DS, I got stuck down a road where a taxi was picking someone up, I must have waited 2 minutes, only for the taxi driver to drive off and me noticing that 4 doors up there was a space that he could of easily parked into. This drives me nuts.

Also when you are waiting for a lift and the lift button is alight, someone else will come and press it, sometimes over and over again, thinking that doing so the lift will come quicker. This also applied when you are waiting at a crossing with several other people, and someone comes along and presses it ahhhh.

Any other out there?

And Tinker, what about lorries that go up the overtaking lane on a steep hill, going at least 1 mph faster than the lorry on the inside lane, but certainly no faster than 15 mph!

breeze · 15/03/2003 16:54

Tinker, Not necessarily place with them, but its the people that sit on a bench as far away and are totally oblivious to what mischief their kids are getting off too. Last week down the park DS and another small child were playing on the slide and these kids at least 8 were throwing the wood chippings on them as they came down. I said to them can they stop doing it and I was given a mouthfull of abuse, and then 5 minutes later their mum called them over as it was time to go.

i have great respect for old people but why is it always them the ones to stare and make nasty comments when your child has a tantrum also the other day my DS whos 5 was playing with some cowboys and indians in a coffee shop and this old man said to me that when my son was older he would go and kill someone i said "yes, hopefully some old nosey bugger like you" im not usually like that but im just sick of the comments

katierocket · 15/03/2003 18:38

people driving down our road at 80 miles an hour when it's a residential area and there are lots of children around.

breeze · 15/03/2003 18:48

Whymummy, Probably because it was so long ago that they had children, they can't remember what it is like. I have said before that same old people are lovely, but others give the rest a bad name.

i agree with you breeze there`s only a few, usually older people are really nice to kids

breeze · 15/03/2003 18:58

I know some make Victor Meldrew look tame.

my father in law for example

WideWebWitch · 16/03/2003 09:57

Ooo err, I don't play with ds in the park either - I sit and do a crossword or read the paper. But I do keep an eye on him and would notice if he was behaving badly towards another child I think. He usually has a friend with him and doesn't want me to play. Not that I would anyway

Georgina - that telephone preference service works - my dh used to get a lot of unwanted calls on his mobile and after registering with them he now gets none.

Tortington · 19/03/2003 11:27

bad manners.

i cant stand it - and its usually old people who dont say thank you when you open a door or sorry when they run over your toes in their wheelchair or with their shopping trolley. although you mums with babies can do that too - i mean watch it you lot

i expect politeness it costs nothing and is a great indicator of a good parent i think - how proud i am of my teenage son when he holds the car door for me or hold the supermarket door for someone with a pram, when my children carry their fair share of the shopping or washing. and if they dont offer i show them how "mortally wounded" i am by their thoughlessness. at which point i have 3 kids begging to hold my shopping bags. - they make me so proud.

so to get back to the point bad manners

another one is anyone over the age of 60 with the strict exception of my nan.

because of manners points above and:

they drive too slow - anyone who is over 60 shouldnt have a driving licence and should get a mobility scooter on the NHS. keep old people of the roads - my word they are more dangerous than president bush.

they tut

for goodness sake just bloody well say it - dont look at me and tut

they have 2 litre engine cars which are brand new - and look sporty - and still drive at the 25 soddin miles an hour

they collect coupons so when you go to the supermarket with 3 kids whinging and saying " mum can i have..." you bein pissed off cos of the kids and the shoppin and the money your about to spend - you spend 20 mins in the flippin queue for the 70 year old woman in front to present all her coupons since 1952. then i have an ally Mcbeal moment where a cartoon shaped tennis raquet appears in my hand and i bat them through the window.

i think logans run had the right idea WE ALL GET ZAPPED AT 60 - except for my nan ofcourse

nerdgirl · 19/03/2003 20:45

Hate to break it to you Custardo but in Logans Run everyone over 30 was killed! So, not in favour of that option!!

As for the elimination of the over 60's, I'm afraid I have a load of people to add to your exemption list along with your grandmother.

Chief among them my Dad, who spent two hours with his three year old grandson today just kicking grass in the park. Show me the 21 year old with that kind of endless patience and joy in little children!

Tortington · 20/03/2003 09:37

lol nerd girl - yeah i know it was 30, am making my own rules up here!

scoobysnax · 21/03/2003 07:55

People who are agressive towards mothers with crying babies (as if you were a child abuser), when you know that they wouldn't say anything to a yobbo who gobbed in the street right next to them...

breeze · 21/03/2003 08:02

People who get offended by harmless fun, and people who need to get out more.

And I wasm't part of the thread, I just found it funny!

Tortington · 21/03/2003 10:14

old people ..have i said that already?

slug · 21/03/2003 13:07

With reference to the religions thread, people who believe they have a monopoly on the truth.

Tortington · 21/03/2003 20:43

as a non smoker - smokers get on my nerves. as a christian agnostics get on my nerves, people who dont recycle and rich people it doesnt matter if they are nice or not. any one who owns a sports car - people who dont like drunk people - politically correct people who dont have the balls to say what they really think - southern take away food - southerners and yorkshire people.

bossykate · 21/03/2003 20:54

custardo, non smoker! you go girl! or words to that effect. have to laugh at your other dislikes! i hate rich people too - anyone who is richer than me, that is...

ScummyMummy · 21/03/2003 21:03

LOLOLOL Custardo.

(as an aside cos I can't be bothered to go and find the giving up thread: I hate not smoking at the moment- have come close to breaking point twice this week and only prevented a severe lapse only by not having enough money on me for a packet of fags at the real crisis point...

I keep thinking of the fun lovin' criminals song:

smoke em
smoke em
smoke em if you got em
if you don't got em then you've hit rock bottom

How true it can be!)

Jimjams · 21/03/2003 21:04

People in the LEA who say "you do realise that this means another child won't get any help" when you are trying to secure basic services for your child.

Lots of things about the NHS (not a person bit still - annoys me more than anything else).

People who say "how can your son be affectionate- he's autistic?"

Aggghhhhhhh

breeze · 22/03/2003 17:20

People who drive big flash cars and try to intimidate you into pulling over, even when you are doing 90mph in the fast lane.
