Thought I would start another interesting thread, this morning while out with DS, I got stuck down a road where a taxi was picking someone up, I must have waited 2 minutes, only for the taxi driver to drive off and me noticing that 4 doors up there was a space that he could of easily parked into. This drives me nuts.

Also when you are waiting for a lift and the lift button is alight, someone else will come and press it, sometimes over and over again, thinking that doing so the lift will come quicker. This also applied when you are waiting at a crossing with several other people, and someone comes along and presses it ahhhh.

Any other out there?

People with small children smoking all over them. And also people effing and blinding at small children.

happydays · 09/03/2003 12:57

When I am at crossing with DS trying to teach him to cross the road, waiting for the green man, someone can clearly see what I am doing and still cross before it turns green. I know its not there kid, but they should be more considerate.

whymummy · 09/03/2003 13:03

when people park the car on the pavement and im forced to walk on the road with the pushchair also when my son (5)holds a door open for someone and they dont say thank you
and people trying to get in before you get out

threeangels · 09/03/2003 13:07

When women younger then you call you "hun". Example - cashier worker. Drives me crazy. Also when someone who is entering a store right infront of me and knows I'm right behind them and they just open and let the door shut practically in my face.

breeze and whymummy - cars blocking the road / pavement really annoys me too. And it's not just taxi drivers in Spain - people often just leave their car in a narrow street here while they pop into a shop and don't look even vaguely apologetic when they drive off again.

Also (and may be treading on some toes here) I hate it when parents in public places act really snooty when I smile or say hello to their children (when their children approach me or are sitting right in front of me - I don't go around trying to befriend strangers' children all the time obviously). I've had the most filthy looks from people as if I was a flasher or something - what am I going to do in a public place with the parents right there anyway?

eidsvold · 09/03/2003 14:24
  1. perfectly able child free people who park in disabled/mother and child parking so that parents with children have to park somewhere they can't get their children out safely or have to walk a long way before getting a trolley to put them in.

Happened to me the other day - had to park somewhere not parent and child and had to collapse the back seat and put dd through the hatch into her car base!!! because I had been parked in and unable to open the door wide enough to put dd into car.

  1. people who drive dangerously!! Eg. people who cut you up to get into your lane in the motorway as theya re about to approach their exit and are three lanes across from where they should be causing the traffic to screech to a halt to let them in.

  2. people who can use roundabouts!!

Okay enough about my nightmare drive back from London this morning.

ditto the button breeze.
ditto Xausted

Eulalia · 09/03/2003 15:12

People who complain about the annoying habits of others .... only joking

When the bin men empty the bins and then return them to right in the middle of the pavement so you have to wheel the pushchair onto the road.

Definately dangerous driving - I had some idiot tooting their horn at me as I was crossing the road very heavily pregnant and could barely walk, depite the fact that I was in the road first!

I still get called "lass" by some folk in shops which I don't mind as I am 37!

whymummy · 09/03/2003 16:29

when my dh insists on watching some boring program on the telly and then falls asleep half way trough and i`ve missed everything i wanted to watch, grrrrrrrrr!!

Chinchilla · 09/03/2003 17:59

I'm afraid I'm a lift button pusher breeze!

kathsmj · 09/03/2003 18:14

When people park accross a drop kerb and you have a pushchair and buggy board on the back with a toddler and you have to get half way down the road to cross over a high kerb. They were originally put in for disabled people, how on earth they cope I don't know!

scoobysnax · 09/03/2003 18:36

People being late annoys me - it says to me that someone thinks their time is more valuable than yours!

kathsmj · 09/03/2003 18:37

My Husband has just told me that the thing that most annoys him is computer hoggers-a dig at me I think, says I must take more notice of my family and their needs, Mumsnet is stopping me from being a Mum!!!! So everyone, will sign off for now. Thing that annoys me- Victorian Husbands in the year 2003!!!!!

whymummy · 09/03/2003 19:27

i agree on that one scooby and kath don`t listen to him i never do!!

Lindy · 09/03/2003 20:16

Podmog - from the timing of your posting I assume you ended up running the creche this morning!!

I so agree with you on that one, and in terms of 'volunteering' generally I get really annoyed with those who never offer to do anything or help, but are the first to criticise!! Or the people who say 'why don't you do X' and you say 'great idea - would you be willing to organise it or help? and their answer is that they can't possibly, they are far too busy ...... why is their free time so much more precious than mine? Or the parents of youth club age children who sit in the pub ..... whilst I volunteer to help at youth club (with no child eligable to join!!).

Rant over.

Most London drivers who have to hoot for no reason at all - can't they see the traffic is solid in front even if the light is on green etc etc etc!!!!!!!!

nerdgirl · 09/03/2003 23:01

Spam.

Tailgaters!

D.J.s that talk over the songs.

Things that are "new and improved". Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something wrong with it before.

Wrong numbers at 10pm.

Right numbers at 10pm!

People who are willing to get off their ass to search the room for the TV remote because they refuse to walk to the TV and change the channel manually.

People who ask "Can I ask you a question?" Don't really give you a choice, do they?

Negative people (just dripping with irony, that one!)

And finally, he's big, he's purple - all together now ... "I love you, you love me" Aaaaaagh!

ScummyMummy · 10/03/2003 02:11

I find jobsworths very frustrating sometimes, people who follow rules exactly, whilst seeming to have no understanding of why they are there.

Rigid thinking generally I find quite irritating, though I know there are areas where I'm not a very flexible thinker myself!

Finally, really, really can't abide rudeness to shop assistants, bar staff, waiting staff etc. So endemic, so unnecessary and so wrong.

Holly2 · 10/03/2003 02:35

Shop assistants who carry on a conversation with their workmates whilst pretending that you're not there. Totally infuriates me. I was in a department store a couple of weeks ago, standing at the counter waiting to buy something. FOUR saleswomen were standing together about 20 feet away from me, engrossed in a conversation, and in the end I had to walk up to them to ask if someone could serve me. One of them looked guilty and said "Oh I was just about to come over." YEAH RIGHT!!!

anoushka · 10/03/2003 06:22

i was in my local shopping mall yesterday and i saw a stall that was selling wooden roses for mothers day they had loads of colours well i decided on these yellow ones and looking at them in more deital i noticed some were a bit battered so i asked did she have any more she said yes so i said i would have the 10 pound bunch she said come back in a few minutes and she would make up a nice bunch for me so i came back and guess what she had not used any of the new ones i had asked to use and tried to fob me off with the battered ones i was quite cross she has waisted my time

SnoobyKat · 10/03/2003 06:53
  1. Airlines who cater beautifully for a baby less than 80cm/20lb but don't do anything for 1yr+ whom I'm supposed to hold on my lap for 13 hours.
  1. Shopping centres/shops that have escalators with 3 or 4 steps at the bottom of them. Staff who tell me I can't take the pushchair on the escalator but tell me there is no lift/lift for disabled people only/lift is out of order.

  2. Being forced to walk around the entire showroom of a certain well-known Scandinavian furniture store in order to get to the item I'm interested in.

musica · 10/03/2003 08:49

When you go somewhere like a railway ticket office, ask for what you want and the assistant says 'No. No, sorry I can't help. Ok?' NO IT'S NOT OK!!!! I WANT MY TICKET!
