Is living in London fab?

I have been offered a job in London next year, it would mean delaying something quite big (a degree!) so I probably won't do it, but I have always wanted to live in London for a bit. I am young/single/child free so in terms of practical stuff its easy for me to move.

I have grown up in industrial northern cities, so I suppose the idea of going somewhere with all the fab shops, museums, restaurants excites me. London just seems to have a lot going for it.

I lived in Brussels for two years but that wasn't very exciting. Is living in London exciting, or is the busyness/cost etc just a hassle?

That's it Lockets, Bishops Park - I used to go for a jog round there!

Alexsmum - for some reason I imagine you are blonde, pretty, slim and petite. I've got a friend who has an Alex and that's what she looks like so that's probably why! HEY, you're not her are you?! Ha ha, no, she doesn't live locally!

Oh good grief. I am not single at all. Must stop being in denial about boyfriend.

Haven't had chance to read all responses, I'm afraid, but here's my opinion.
Moved to London from small northern town to go to college 18 years ago (more than half my lifetime). Did the young free and single bit with a passion. Met dh, had kids and still here. Always lived very close to work so never had the commuting nightmare. Always lived very central so easy to get home after a night out.
With kids there is so much to do, lots of it free. As many people don't have gardens, or tiny ones if they do, life is very sociable as you meet in parks. I wholeheartedly think it is a wonderful place to live, whether single or part of a family.
It was my mum who persuaded me to come here originally. She spent 2 years here as a young adult and says she thinks all young people should live in a big city for at least a little while, just to experience everything on offer.

not read thread but just to give you the benefit of my huge -not - experience... I moved to london at age 22 after uni and from north... had a ball best place to be when young and free and single... no-one drives to work in centre of town so loads of after work socialising, loads to do, easy to meet people, generally BRILLIANT. however, as I aged. got bored of huge costs, low standard of living, dirt and noise and met love of life and wanted to breed no way would do it there and so moved north... MAnchester as if you would not guess from name... first few years here were hell - really missed variety and range of pubs bars restaurants shops etc but now things loads improved and to be fair don;t need 8734 bars to choose from on annual night out!! Pleased though I lived there for 10 years and also pleased to be raising kids somewhere else!
