I pay £25 she does between 2.5 and 3 hours a week.

I don't care how long she takes, as long it is done.

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 08/08/2008 08:31

You will struggle to get someone at £6, do not use agencies, they are truly dreadful.

claraquitetirednow · 08/08/2008 08:31

About £80 a month, full time cleaner and nanny.
But then I don't live in the UK

overthemill · 08/08/2008 08:40

bree - why are they dreadful? i'd used one before and it meant someone always came although it was always someone different which was a drag

and do you just offer the set amount to do the job? how many bedrooms do you have?

OP posts:
overthemill · 08/08/2008 08:41

clara where do you live!?

overthemill · 08/08/2008 10:15

lilymolly · 08/08/2008 10:16

10 per hour

luvaduck · 08/08/2008 10:18

10 per hour, in london
but she's amazing

NorthernLurker · 08/08/2008 10:18

Watching this with interest - we could do with one......

wasabipeanut · 08/08/2008 10:20

£30 a week for a 3 bed house - we use a company that sends out several cleaners to do one house. They do a pretty good job actually.

mm22bys · 08/08/2008 10:21

£30 once a week, I think she stays about three hours (sometimes more, sometimes less) - don't know exactly as I try not to be at home the whole time she is here.

We're in London...

DillyTanty · 08/08/2008 10:24

£8 an hour. would never use an agency, if they're getting £6 an hour, how much is the woman who's cleaning your loo actually getting. you have to get a personal recommendation from someone, and be aware that good cleaners pretty much interview you...

SoupKitchen · 08/08/2008 10:33

I get £10 an hour, but am very good [smug emoticon]
Also think you would struggle to find someone for £6

fleacircus · 08/08/2008 10:36

My cleaner asked for £7 an hour, that was a while ago, we paid that to start off with but put it up every six months, she now gets £9 an hour. We pay her if we're away and also if she wants a week off (very rare, she's only asked for one twice in two years) and we give her a Christmas bonus. We're in London.

Pinkjenny · 08/08/2008 10:37

£7 an hour in the North West.

IAmNotHere · 08/08/2008 10:37

£8/hour.

Minniethemoocher · 08/08/2008 10:42

£8 per hour in the South East, but we don't pay her holiday money and she still comes in to clean if we are away.

overthemill · 08/08/2008 10:44

so if agency charges £9/hour the cleaner is getting around £7 i reckon. if thats what the cost is i'd rather spend it on her and guess she might be more loyal?

why not an agency?

OP posts:
taliac · 08/08/2008 10:45

£7 an hour for a minimum of 2 hours a week plus an agency fee of £100 a year.

The agency (london based) we use is very reliable, have used them for years, in fact my old flatmate cleaned for them. You pay the agency their yearly fee and the cleaners their money direct, the cleaners don't have to pay a proportion to the agency or a fee for signing on or anything, I checked.

The agency vets the cleaners, replaces them if they don't work out and makes sure you have holiday cover etc. So all good I reckon.

DillyTanty · 08/08/2008 10:45

more like £6.

overthemill · 08/08/2008 10:48

taliac who is your agency - wonder if they where i live?

OP posts:
taliac · 08/08/2008 10:54

Hey overthemill, its Homeclean - they cover London only though?

taliac · 08/08/2008 10:55

Don't, repeat, don't use the agencies that push flyers through your door, they are generally the ripper offers.

All the good agencies work on word of mouth really.

overthemill · 08/08/2008 14:04

thanks - they dont cover my area - just hoping! now i need to ask around my road and see who has a cleaner they can recommend!

OP posts:
overthemill · 11/08/2008 18:10

nobody has one but lots said they'd like one - hmm, an opportunity maybe for soemone who does it/runs an agency methinks??
