we are in cambridge and I pay £9 per hour I know my neighbour pays over £10 per hour neither through agencies.

where in the country are you?

hester · 11/08/2008 18:19

Ten quid an hour, but I'm in a posh part of London.

ChasingSquirrels · 11/08/2008 18:23

bythepowerofgreyskull - would you recommend your cleaner, do they want more work and woukd they bill willing to come to SP?

CountessDracula · 11/08/2008 18:26

£8 an hour in SW London

bythepowerofgreyskull · 11/08/2008 18:37

she isn't the fastest but what she does she does very very well. Totally trustowrthy - does anything you ask, ironing, cleaning out fridges/cupboards, or just the regular clean round.

I am not sure what spare hours she has but I will ask her if you want. she is coming Wednesday afternoon will let you know.

ChasingSquirrels · 11/08/2008 18:41

4-bed house: vacumm (hall, stairs, lounge, 4 bedrooms and bathroom), wash floors - kitchen/conservatory/utility, dust, clean toilets/bath/shower.
2-3 hours? or longer
Yes, if you wouldn't mind asking if she would be interested. I know various people with a cleaner and they all say that they wouldn't really recommend them - reliable but crap, or good but unreliable etc.

overthemill · 11/08/2008 18:41

oh greysquirrel you are so kind but i am not in cambs

I think in 3 hours she would be able to do that

bythepowerofgreyskull · 13/08/2008 20:39

CS I asked her today and until her children start senior school (2 more years) she doesn't want to take on any more hours...
Sorry

£8 an hour, in London, not through an agency.

Quattrocento · 13/08/2008 20:42

We pay £8. It is not a luxury it is a necessity though as we both work full time plus and are tired out.

overthemill · 13/08/2008 21:36

is this a necessity that you would die to keep kind of necessity?

Okay in a choice between food or cleaner I would choose food

In a choice between a TV licence and a cleaner I would choose a cleaner

amateurmum · 13/08/2008 23:30

£7 per hour - she is not from an agency.

KristinaM · 13/08/2008 23:33

£8 an hour plus fee to agency

ChasingSquirrels · 14/08/2008 18:26

ah well - thanks anyway greyskull

notcitrus · 15/08/2008 20:14

London - £10/hour. Initially got first cleaner from an agency, but agencies insisted you had them weekly which we didn't need. However the cleaner simply gave us her mobile number and said to call if we needed a clean - so we'd call her about once a month and have her for 4 hours.

Sadly she couldn't get to us when we moved, so had to repeat the process. Her replacement isn't quite as good but isn't bad and is still much better than I could do myself (even if I had functioning hands for scrubbing etc). Tend to have her once a month for 3 hours, and just before my parents visit.
