I have an omega. I'm really happy with it and it is a well known make. DH bought it for me for having ds.

shirleyghostman · 05/07/2008 13:54

How much do you want to spend? Do you like delicate or chunky? Metal or leather straps?

Collision · 05/07/2008 13:55

Mine is from Next. £15!

Cannot see the point in an expensive watch.

Lauriefairycake · 05/07/2008 14:00

I have a Hamilton watch, the same one that Audrey wears in Breakfast at Tiffanys. Bought it ten years ago in America for £130, never gone wrong.

Consider that a bit of a good buy as I've never had to replace it - just bought a new battery for £3 every couple of years.

Not hi-tech in any way, no date/light or anything - just the way i like it.

mindermummy · 05/07/2008 19:37

Im not sure how much o spend; maybe a few hundred.
I would like a delicate one with metal strp.x

Not remotely bothered tbh.

As long as it tells the time that's all that matters imo.

In fact I haven't worn a watch for years.

2point4kids · 05/07/2008 20:04

I've got a Dior one. Its lovely.
I'm not even going to say how much it cost although I didnt actually pay for it myself.
I love it though, had it 3 years and never take it off.

I've got a cartier tank and i love it.

BagelBird · 05/07/2008 20:08

I have a vintage Cartier watch I inherited from my Grandmother. It is a lovely rectangular platinum and diamond confection. Problem is, it is so lovely and special (let alone worth a lot of money) that I rarely wear it.
I have a very nice Rotary silver watch that I wear every day - about a modest £250 quid but that is quite a bit for me and I love it as my DDs both chose it for my 30th

muggglewump · 05/07/2008 20:11

I've got a Pequignet that I got for my 18th. I rarely wear it though

swallowsandamazons · 05/07/2008 20:33

I have a Omega, just like bond. Still looks as good as new three years on.

DarthVader · 05/07/2008 20:39

I'm with Collision! I think it is a pointless way to spend money and just one more expensive item to take care of/worry about.

I have a £20 watch from M&S; it's great. Can't get at all excited about expensive watches...is it a status thing?

bodiddly · 05/07/2008 20:39

I have a gucci as well - dp bought it for my christmas present about 3 years ago now. It is plain and goes with everything .. I love it! That said, if I were to go and spend that sort of money on myself I don't know what else is out there to compare.

googgly · 05/07/2008 20:57

I have a v.expensive watch that was a present. It is very beautiful (posh watches are like jewellery - what's the point of a diamond after all?), but has gone wrong twice and each repair has been 250 pounds and taken 3 months. If it goes wrong again it is going straight in the bin.

Winebeforepearls · 05/07/2008 21:00

I lurve this but it's not gonna happen.

Quattrocento · 05/07/2008 21:02

I've got a Cartier Santos which I love and never take off. Oddly enough it keeps rotten time. It's an automatic watch and I think I must not have enough natural electricity or something.

For posh I've got an inherited gold omega thingy which is as ugly as sin but does the job.

southeastastra · 05/07/2008 21:03

ooh i like that one winebp, i get through about 2 watches a year

Winebeforepearls · 05/07/2008 21:04

hopefully not at that price, southeastastra

I'm hoping for a small inheritance or lottery win.

moopymoo · 05/07/2008 21:06

vintage cartier. My mum has one that i covet.

Quattrocento · 05/07/2008 21:10

How do you "get through" two watches a year SEA? I mean do you start gnawing them on the Queen's birthday or something? I've had the same watches for years and years ...
