Should Europe stop all non Western Immigration? Thaughts?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been reading about a big petition doing the rounds at the moment called the Save Europe Act. It was launched recently by a Dutch commentator named Eva Vlaardingerbroek.

It is a European Citizens' Initiative aimed at the EU. It has already gained over 500,000 signatures. If it reaches 1 million, the European Commission is legally forced to review it.

I am a Polish citizen but I used to live in the UK. Because I have EU citizenship, I am actually eligible to sign it, and I have already signed it myself. However, because of Brexit, British citizens living in the UK cannot sign it.

Essentially, the petition demands very strict anti-migration policies across the EU. Here are the main points:

Total Migration Freeze: Stopping all non-Western and non-European migration. This includes work, study, and family visas.

Mass Remigration: Creating an EU framework to deport certain migrants.

Cutting Benefits: Removing financial incentives and welfare for non-European migrants.

Cultural Identity: Prioritizing the preservation of European cultural heritage.

I'm really curious to know what people here think about it. Does Europe need to take drastic measures like this, or do these demands go way too far?

I see that you have started two threads in support of this racist petition. Steady now.

HolidayPrin · 11/07/2026 13:38

It's because I wanted to change the title and couldn't once I posted it.

sounds racist. Birth rates across Europe are very low, can’t see an end to migration.

Snorlaxo · 11/07/2026 13:42

We depend on hardworking non-Westerners in the care and health sectors.

A major problem is the immigration system. Claims need to be processed quickly or people should be allowed to work straight away because I suspect that lack of work is very closely related to the crime and antisocial behaviour that doesn’t work in western countries. People who stay need to be explicitly taught the social contract here. For example, homophobia is unacceptable. I fear that it’s a matter of time before someone successfully uses the excuse that they don’t know it’s wasn’t ok to rape because it’s ok back home.

The truly radical policy would be to only allow females and children to migrate. Imagine how that would turn out…

WisdomBiscuit · 11/07/2026 13:43

Racist AI written crap.

BillieWiper · 11/07/2026 13:45

How 'western'?! Do you mean white?!

Of course not. It's massively racist and xenophobic.

Snorlaxo · 11/07/2026 13:45

Non-Western people include many countries whose citizens haven’t caused trouble in Europe. For example - Lots of people in the UK from the Philippines working hard

WhatWouldMyMamaSay · 11/07/2026 13:48

Perhaps if the Western world stayed out of non-Western world, stopped interfering in their business, destroying their infrastructure to pursue their own economic goals, etc, then such large scale immigration wouldn’t have happened.

You can’t throw the first punch and then act the victim.

You signed it, you tell us!

in terms of remigration, how far back? Wilders in NL has Indonesian heritage and is immigration. Where should he be deported to.

Go ahead and sign it and get your like-minded peers to sign. It wont go anywhere because we, immigrants, are not leaving EU until - if and when - we want to. I pay my taxes. I've built my life here and as long as I bide by the law, I will live here as long as I want. And if I break the law apply it to me as you would any other European because I am equal.

Oh when you lived in the Uk did you ever consider that as an immigrant you needed to be forced back to Poland? Or did you consider it ok to be subjected to Xenophobic acts?

Greenand · 11/07/2026 13:53

Crikey! It looks like something Hitler would have written!

Aparecium · 11/07/2026 14:00

You do know that there are European Muslims? Or is it just brown skins you want to keep out of Europe?

🙄

Lumpycat · 11/07/2026 14:10

The racists won’t get what they want. A large number of EU migrants across the EU are 1st or 2nd or 3rd generation migrants with EU passports. They are citizens of the EU. They can’t turn back time. The world is different now.
I do think there needs to be some sort of European consensus on how to approach the migration pressures but that will never happen.

ouchynose · 11/07/2026 19:06

Sure if you want UK universities to close, with all the loss that would entail.

Howyoudoings · 11/07/2026 19:10

Sounds ridiculous and pointless it will never happen. Even if spoke about

Bunnyfuller1 · 11/07/2026 19:15

I’m just finding it hilarious that Brexit was basically to halt immigration and now the UK has it, it can’t join in even if this bs went ahead.

Stop supporting countries bombing other countries and spend the money saved on helping them live well in their own countries.

SpottyAlpaca · 11/07/2026 19:27

All; no. Many people from developing countries have high-level skills & expertise which would contribute to our society & improve our country. My principle concern about, for example, Pakistani doctors coming to the UK would be that their skills would be more needed in their own country than in ours.

Most; yes. I would support a complete embargo on non-postgraduate educated immigration from developing countries for the foreseeable future. And for generous repatriation programs to be offered to millions of those already here. 25 years of uncontrolled mass immigration from third world countries has been a disaster for both the economy and the social cohesion of the U.K. and I will vote for any politicians who are prepared to take serious action not just to stop it but to reverse it. That does not make me xenophobic; I voted Remain in 2016 & would vote to rejoin the EU in any future referendum.

if only so many companies can make profits and so many companies are going bankrupt, and only so many companies need so many workers why do we need extra people ?

nocoolnamesleft · 11/07/2026 19:33

That’s our local hospital, and 50% of our local GP practices closed, then.

not if they are already in the country legally etc

Overtheatlantic · 11/07/2026 19:40

Typical racist, can’t spell.

RoseField1 · 11/07/2026 19:40

I work in a profession which actively recruits from certain African countries because they have a good standard of related education and speak fluent English. We depend on those immigrants to keep us going. There's nowhere in Europe that we could raid recruit from for the same quality of applicants.

WatermelonSalad1 · 11/07/2026 19:43

@HolidayPrin "I'm really curious to know what people here think about it"

why? Are you perhaps looking for a female perspective or a British perspective?

I have no idea that this was going on, but it seems to me that it's maybe nice not to be part of Europe with all this going on.

Marycontrarygarden · 11/07/2026 19:51

Who the fuck (massive racists) voted strongly yes?? Come on, speak.

Georgewilldo911 · 11/07/2026 19:52

I do hope all these other countries send our expats back to us too. I miss them.
