Do you know a Mr. Pashley?

It's a long shot I know, but I am trying to trace a friend of my father's from about 25 years ago.
Mr.Pashley lived in Edinburgh or the surrounding area at that time. My father, who was a musician and conducter, left some reel-to-reel tape recordings of his own music, mainly from theatre productions at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, and possibly about half a dozen diaries or hardback notebooks from the 1970's with a Mr. Pashley when he left Scotland around about the mid 1980's.

My father lived abroad for the rest of his life and although he asked me and my siblings to try and find Mr. Pashley and the things my father had left with him we were never able to find him. My father died a couple of years ago and I would like to have one more shot at finding his tapes and diaries.
If you know anyone of this name please could you ask them if any of this rings a bell, and ask them to mention it to relatives of the same name, particularly older ones.
Many thanks.

try the local newspaper for the area?

Shitemum · 21/04/2008 21:21

iheart - thanks, I already tried phoning all the Pashleys in the Edinburgh area phone book a couple of years ago. I suspect he has moved/died.

bump - this thread reminds me of one a while back I saw about someone who was tracing the original owners of a book and it worked, so good luck with this.

Shitemum · 21/04/2008 21:36

yabba - thanks for the bump

have you tried any of the family history sites?

Amapoleon · 21/04/2008 22:40

Have you tried genes reunited, electoral roll etc.?

Shitemum · 21/04/2008 22:44

Have tried a couple of those types of sites to try and get a list of Pashleys in the Uk that I could email or send a note to but most of them require payment.

Do you have a first name?

Shitemum · 21/04/2008 22:49

Possibly Derek or Nigel. Can't remember what my Dad told me

Pretty sure it was Derek Pashley actually.

no chance it was Ron? I work for a Mr and Mrs Pashly in Cornwall, they are very old though, in their late 80s. Mr Pashly loves classical music though?

Shitemum · 22/04/2008 10:58

malta - pretty sure the spelling was Pashley, but you could ask them. If you cat me or give me an email I can give you my father's name.
Thanks

A Derek Pashley b. 1932 has a family tree at the genesreunited site. I could contact him. There are two others of that name in other trees, born in 1946 and 1950, and another two with no year of birth given.

Shitemum · 22/04/2008 21:35

Oooh, that's interesting. I don't know if he was the same age as my Dad or younger. My Dad was born in 1934.
Does it say where they were born?
Do I need to pay to access the info on that site?
