Do you sleep with your hair tied up…

… or are you a total crazy person? just curious coz I used to sleep with it down and very long and I have no idea how I managed 😂 sometimes my hair would get caught in my armpit as I was rolling over and I’d be stuck 😂

I have no idea now how people sleep without tying their hair up, but I wanna know if this is normal! The places your brain wanders when you can’t sleep 🥴

Yes my hair is a bit too long at the moment as I hate going to the hairdressers. It gets matted and trapped under a toddler if I don't plait it at night.

Somehowgirl · 09/04/2024 00:12

That would drive me nuts. I sleep naked as I don't like anything near my armpits or neck. Gives me the shivers. I've never worn a hair bobble though as my hair has never been past my jawline, it's always in bob and barely gets a hairbrush through it most days 😂

Mine is a bun on top of my head as even a plait around my neck drives me bonkers! Too much going on annoys me though - even if the sheet under me is too wrinkly I can’t stand it!! No clue how I managed with my hair down

I do because I'm menopausal and far too hot in the night for my long hair to be all over me too Grin

I've always had long hair, never tied it up at night. It's never been a problem. Confused

Yes I've done the bun thing but often get the positioning wrong and end up lying on it and it's too uncomfortable. I also bought one of those satin bonnets but it's a bit loose and I wake up with it over my eyes and my husband laughs at me 😄

EBearhug · 09/04/2024 00:21

Mine is in a plait.

Down when I was younger, can’t get my DDs to tie theirs back. These days a loose ponytail as I couldn’t cope with nighttime sweats if I had my hair to content with too.

HoHoHoliday · 09/04/2024 00:29

I have long hair tied up in a loose bun on top of my head. If it was down it would get caught as I turn over, and probably get pulled or torn, either way waking me up.
And once I tried sleeping with it down, a bit of hair came down over my face and in my half-asleep state I thought it was a spider on me and hit my face really hard!

EternalAutumn · 09/04/2024 00:52

I've always had long hair, and as a child I remember I couldn't sleep with the lump of a ponytail in my hair so always had it down to sleep (but tied back in the daytime)

Then at some point, I'd guess in my late teens/early twenties I wasn't bothered either way and probably didn't put too much thought into it.
Now as an adult I'd rather chop all my hair off than sleep with it down Grin
It makes me feel sick, the feeling of my hair being pinned down, by my own head! It makes my neck all hot and sweaty 🤮

Tintackedsea · 09/04/2024 00:59

Hairnet. It might seem ridiculous but it's the best thing for keeping hair tidy at night.

peloton2024 · 09/04/2024 00:59

Usually in a bonnet or in a really high ponytail/pineapple to protect it overnight
Sleep on a silk pillowcase as well

Hahahaha I’ve definitely done this before

Low bobble, fairly loose.
Snapped a hairbrush trying to unknott my hair as a teen. Had it tied back ever since.

TaraT28 · 09/04/2024 13:54

When my hair was longer, I always wore it up to bed. It was uncomfortable and gave me a headache if it was too tight, but I still preferred it to wearing it down.

KeepSmiling89 · 09/04/2024 13:58

I've got fairly long curly hair so it's usually up in a hair buff or in a loose pineapple on top of my head (with a big satin scrunchie). Also sleep on a satin/silk pillowcase.

Even before I started embracing my curly hair, it was usually tied up in a high ponytail as I would get too hot and sweaty overnight.

ScubaDivingSpiderMonkey · 09/04/2024 14:00

I prefer to sleep with my hair down but all the tiktok hair experts advise sleeping with it tied up, gentler on the old barnet, so I try to do that.

TheLambtonWorm · 09/04/2024 14:05

I only have shoulder length hair but it's a sensory nightmare trying to sleep without it tied up. DP has hair down his back and sleeps with it down and I dunno how he does it.

newusern99 · 09/04/2024 14:07

I sleep on my back or left hand side so I do a plait on the right hand side so that I don't lie on the bobble as I find that annoying.

mitogoshi · 09/04/2024 14:24

Never tied my hair up even when it was really long

JamSandle · 09/04/2024 14:30

Always up. I have really long hair but can rarely tolerate it down.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/04/2024 14:31

Yes, otherwise it suffocates me.
