my dh works in warrington and we live in blackpool. its a trek for him to get to work and costs a fortune in petrol so we've decided to move nearer. question is where? even though he works in warrington he doesn't know the area. we have decided we don't actually want to move into the centre but does anyone know of any nice areas nearby? we don't want anywhere too built up but need good schools and colleges. some places we've considered are, irlam, widnes, wilmslow, newtown-le-willows and leigh. I have never been to any of these and don't know what they're like. Can anyone give me any help?? don't want to go driving to look at places that are really not very nice. thanks

Chatee - just missed each other, I started in 1988! Were you a Lion/Carlton person or more of a Fiesta/Mr Smiths?? I was definately the 1st.

I love where I live now, just wish it was a bit easier to get back to Warrington - takes about 4 or 5 hours. My parents were down here for Xmas this year so I got out of making the journey.

Pru - sorry to hear about your Dad. I used to have family in Widnes (Lowerhouse Lane) but they are no longer there.

Agree with what everyone said about Stockton Heath and Lymm but expensive and probably wrong side of town for bonniej if dh is working on the Grange. btw - Longbarn isn't a bad area as far as I know, have spent happy times in Smithies and the Stocks.

Well this is a very old thread, but I wonder how you went on? I used to live in Birchwood, five minutes' drive from the Grange, and would have recommended Woolston too, or Culcheth/Croft. I now live in Newton-le-Willows near the High Street. Where did you end up going?
