We will be moving to Nottingham in August. My husband will be working in NUH/Queens medical centre.

Where would be a good place to live? Dd is 6 years old and will be in year 3 from September.

We don’t want to spend more than 700k. Happy to consider state or private schools.

thank you !!

Staff parking permits for NUH are very hard to get so a lot of staff use the Park and Ride from Queens Drive and get the medilink to QMC.
Congestion in the city centre can be a nightmare especially during rush hour so getting from NGHS to QMC all in 15 minutes will be very tight.
NGHS is a very good school , friend’s DD is there and very happy.

I’d advise living somewhere you can get a tram or bus to QMC as the parking on site is bad. However I can tell you where you can park offsite, within easy walking distance of QMC for £4 per 12 hours. I now live within walking distance of QMC.

Nottingham city is actually quite small & there are always lots of roadworks. Getting anywhere during rush hour is a nightmare. Though if you’re a consultant, you’ll get parking in the consultant car park at qmc which is slightly better for parking than the other car parks.

There are no guarantees that a new starter will get an on site parking permit. The OP needs to
understand that.

There are loads of medic/Dr parents at NGHS. The junior school has a great breakfast club that starts at 7.30am, well used by other families. Can drop and run, so could easily get to QMC by 8.15am. The girls can either stay and just hang out with other girls in the breakfast club or there are many morning clubs starting at 8.00am - sport, music, etc. Can get breakfast there too from 7.30. School day/registration starts at 8.30am. There is also after school provision until 6.00pm. Really helpful for working parents. It’s a great school. The Junior School head is really amazing, she’s been there about 8 years and runs a tight ship.

As stated above, you could easily live in WB, drive to NGHS, drop off at 7.30 and get to QMC for 8.15am. You would be going against traffic from the school to QMC at that time. The City Hospital campus is a short drive from NGHS too.

Lots of Victorian 5 bed semis in West Bridgford which is an area as you describe.
My favourite houses- always wished I could afford one!

That’s very reassuring thank you.
