Also looking for a Balamory video, again any suggestions on locating one very welcome. Thanks !

While we're talking about xmas presents, can I hijack this thread to see who gives xmas presents to their kids teachers.I think this is becoming quite common.A lot of people I know tend to give presents at xmas and I only give when they leave the class.Am I stingey here? What do people here do,I'm interested?

WideWebWitch · 10/12/2002 14:55

would like to know the answer to that myself Star, this being ds' first xmas at school!

I do give the teacher a Christmas present but usually just a bottle of wine. My mum was an infant teacher and she used to be inundated with smelly stuff and chocolates. But I think wine is more appreciated!

helenmc · 10/12/2002 17:34

We're giving mugs ...boring but useful, but would normally give bottle of wine (but have been told teacher is tee-total). ours is a private school - so don't know whether that makes a differenece or not

bayleaf · 10/12/2002 20:13

Given the rate at which mugs 'disappear' from the staffroom I'm sure that will be a popular option Helenmc! I'd say on average I lose at least 3 a year

Sons teacher is getting presents, it seems from all. Apparently she loves wine! I'm going to get a pretty M&S Christmas plant, hyacinth or poinsietta (?!). Nice for £5ish. Hard to try and think of something that isnt chocolate or candley, not that I'd mind either!!

Ems,I thought you meant candy at first-then realized it was me-candles,candles everywhere, evrywhere you look there's candles! No I haven't gone mad, don't you just notice it though sometimes?Ooh dear I really don't want to be the only stingey one in the school.I,m not at all tight but I do think, personally,it's a bit ott to be buying at xmas too.
WWW I'd definately buy something for your ds's teacher if you don't want to get a name for yourself like I have probably by now

WideWebWitch · 11/12/2002 17:26

Star, will do, wine it is then!
