And glittery and glam hair accessories and jewellery. Primark (my new favourite shop) has an excellent selection for just £1. Perfect stocking fillers, or a present in themselves in a pretty box or tin.

Batters, thankfully, I bought one of the Playmobile advent calenders a couple of months ago as our local shop sold out ages ago (not meant to sound gloating), but if you do manage to get hold of one, make sure you allow 1.5 hours of time to put it all together before giving it to your child! You have to assemble absolutely everything, even the little boxes that the bits go in.

Gap vouchers are also popular.

aloha · 27/11/2002 20:23

And money!!

GillW · 27/11/2002 20:48

Batters - I sold it for £12 (it wasn't this year's one - it was the Christmas Market one which has been discontinued for a couple of years). But.... you can buy them for a lot less than that from German ebay - though obviously postage is more/takes longer.

My 10 year old stepdaughter loves clothes. The secret to buying for that age is to go to a store like h&m or gap (depending on your budget) and watch what other 10 year olds are buying or better yet begging their mothers to buy! When I used to buy clothes for my dh's stepdaughter she was always amazed that someone as "old and uncool" as me could pick such hip clothes.

Asda have some nice stocking fillers for girls, starting at £1 for a couple of lip balms. I have 2 dd's aged 10 and 6 , anything glittery, pink, sparkly, arty/crafty, with Mary Kate and Ashley/Gareth Gates on it (or any pop band she likes) is bound to be a hit.

Just about anything from Claire's Accessories or even a voucher for Claire's Accessories if trying to choose gives you a breakdown.

Don't suppose anyone knows a good website for kids that is either Singapore based or will deliver there? I have three youngesters in Singapore to buy for and have just dicovered that Amazon don't deliver toys / CD's / software there. Any ideas gratefully received.

Had pure inspiration for the teenage boys last night. Was talking to my mum about nephew and asking about music. She said he just plays LOUD music in his room. Da..Da..... HEADPHONES - you know the chunky sort of with a hifi! Sure to be a big hit with their mums as well! Brilliant or what!

GillW · 28/11/2002 10:12

Bells2 - try this for a Singapore based toy company.

Anyone know where I can get a kiddy gardening set at this time of year. I bought a really nice one one for dd from GLTC earlier this year, and have promised similar to someone but having problems tracking one down.

Marina · 28/11/2002 11:04

Brio do nice painted metal gardening equipment for children in their Percy the Park Keeper range: Brio UK

Bugsy · 28/11/2002 11:38

My 11yo nephew is into the whole boarding thing. We're getting him a voucher from the local boarding shop, then another for his birthday 2 weeks later. He likes to put the two together then go and choose himself something.

Good idea re the headphones - cordless would be particularly welcome from a user point of view (we got my dad some for his birthday).

thumper · 28/11/2002 12:33

Thanks Bugsy and Marina, I'm off to have a look!

bells2 · 28/11/2002 13:19

Many thanks GillW - just what I was looking for.

Rhiannon · 28/11/2002 22:21

My 10 & 13 year old nieces love New Look. There are plenty of gifts in there as well as clothes.

Rhiannon · 28/11/2002 22:21

Anyone know where I can get a Cub Scout Annual for 2003?

cocococo · 28/11/2002 22:47

Not baby related but getting desperate can anyone tell me where in London or UK on-line you can buy Abercrombie & Fitch clothes? Also have bought a waffle maker as a gift and I want to make up a hamper of all kind of waffle things to go in it eg real maple syrup, american waffle mix, blueberry syrup etc

My god-daughters 9 and 11 love Bang On the Door branded stuff Funky Chick etc. They are getting cool Funky Chick Towels for swimming, Gap branded baseball caps and money

Woolies had loads of annuals not sure about Cubs.

GillW · 29/11/2002 08:34

Rhiannon - According to Blackwells bookshop plans for the 2003 Cub Scout Annual were scrapped and it was never printed, so you might have a fruitless search.

Rhiannon · 29/11/2002 08:39

Funny you should say that because I looked on amazon and they were only selling last years. Another British institution to be disappearing then......

Rhiannon · 29/11/2002 08:42

cocococo, there is an American shop on the Kings Road and I think there's one at Bluewater too but I can't remember it's name, I'm sure someone can remember. But they sold stuff like that.

For Abercrombie and Fitch, don't know sorry, do you know anyone going to the US soon?

Rhiannon · 29/11/2002 08:43

cocococo, me again just searched Abercrombie on www.ebay.co.uk and loads of clothes came up for auction so you could be in luck. R
