Not sure what to do, go with my gut or not?

I am waiting to hear the results of an interview but i am not sure that if offered i would take the job.It is doing the job i do know but with lots of house calls. As i am a very inexperienced driver i feel that i may be putting myself under undue pressure.I do need a job badly as i am redundant the end of march but my gut says no iykwim.I know i haven't even been offered anything yet so am being premature but i need to know for when they call me.
I want to do a job that i feel happy with but i dont want to regret turning down the opportunity of work.
I have turned a couple of other jobs down because the salary was so poor and despite me only working part time i really depend on a certain income, which although not much is more than minimum wage.
I would hate to do a job and hate it.
Also i have a couple of other interviews scheduled for next month one of which would be my dream job.
Is there any way i can put off acceptance if offered or am i being too picky?

Help what would you do?

No it wasn't sent by recorded delivery so yes youre right that could buy me a little time.

The job is quite similar to what i do now,supporting/enabling adults with learning disabilities and severe challenging behaviours but it would be based here there and everywhere as it is supported living, where i am now is at one base.Hence there being lots of driving etc and lone working.

and what is the dream job? do you think you are likely to get it?

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 13:41

The dream job is supporting a 12 year old ,the hours are perfect and the money is good and i really would like to broaden my experience by working with children.
I think i stand as much chance as the other candidates yes.

well i hope you get it and i think you can easily stretch this out until the 10th. will you know on the day whether you get it?

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 13:50

is the supporting the 12yo dream job based in a school or at home? DH and I both work in the LD 'sector' [too posh a word] we have both done the community thing, I only did it for six months as for the same reasons as you I prefer to have a base and to work with a team. Having to use my car as a mobile office drove me potty - and that was even before I had kids! DH enjoyed roaming the town and working with loads of different people in different places and did this sort of work for years, so I'd say it is almost completely a personality thing!
As you are hopefully dealing with employers much like ourselves, who live in the real world with real people etc, then honesty may well be the best option. Aside from blaming the post office for losing that letter, of course

go with your gut instinct and hold out for the job you really want.

i don't see anything wrong with asking them when they need a decision by.

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 20:44

The dream job will be in his home

hmm still burying head in sand at the moment but i guess i will eventually ask them for time to decide.

thanks for sahring that giggle

gut instinct is rarely wrong. it's hard to make these decisions. i'd be tempted to take your time, and if they get back to you first that's no bad thing.

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 20:52

yes it's just that i dont want to shoot myself in the foot and regret it in 3 weeks or so

god i wish i could fast forward
