Not sure what to do, go with my gut or not?

I am waiting to hear the results of an interview but i am not sure that if offered i would take the job.It is doing the job i do know but with lots of house calls. As i am a very inexperienced driver i feel that i may be putting myself under undue pressure.I do need a job badly as i am redundant the end of march but my gut says no iykwim.I know i haven't even been offered anything yet so am being premature but i need to know for when they call me.
I want to do a job that i feel happy with but i dont want to regret turning down the opportunity of work.
I have turned a couple of other jobs down because the salary was so poor and despite me only working part time i really depend on a certain income, which although not much is more than minimum wage.
I would hate to do a job and hate it.
Also i have a couple of other interviews scheduled for next month one of which would be my dream job.
Is there any way i can put off acceptance if offered or am i being too picky?

Help what would you do?

Thanks i know that im a chicken

Would it be very odd to just ask them if what the deadline for acceptance was or am i way off?

i promise not to have looked at yours either.
obviously witch and turkey are long lost twins.
you were in my favourite story when i was a kid. just knew I had seen you somewhere

TurkeyLurkey · 03/03/2008 00:03

Pelvic - accept it. They will then need to send you a load of forms to fill in for your CRB check which you'll need to fill in. This can be spun out until the 10th at least.

Hang on to the forms until then, when you'll know whether you've got the other job or not.

That way, the CRB check won't have actually got going as you'll still have the forms!

Ta dah!

gigglewitch · 03/03/2008 00:03

if you have a desperately huge conscience

[what's that?]
then you could be honest and tell them that you have more interviews this week. TBH I haven't had anyone do that when coming for interview to us, so not sure whether it is advisable or not.
Can you stall them in more subtle ways like asking for the offer in writing, requesting the CRB forms (which may possibly get lost in the post) etc etc

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 00:04

ah but i had to fill in CRB form at the interview

OP posts:
TurkeyLurkey · 03/03/2008 00:05

The "bugger" was at PFNM having already filled in the forms and scuppering my cunning plan.

gigglewitch · 03/03/2008 00:06

bollocks bo11ocks @ filling in form at interview.
BUT... they need I.D. to go with it. please don't say you've already done that too

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 00:07

well they asked for proof of identity at interview and filled something in but didnt make copies

OP posts:
TurkeyLurkey · 03/03/2008 00:08

Yes, I think its back to honesty. Accept it, and then make your apologies if and when you get this other one on the 10th.

No harm done, all's well that ends well etc etc.

TurkeyLurkey · 03/03/2008 00:09

Yeah, they just write the details down off your ID for CRB checks..they don't need copies.

Buggery bum holes.

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 00:10

TurkeyLurkey · 03/03/2008 00:13

Off to bed now anyway...have a sleep on it Pelvic and see what you think in the morning.

Nighty night!

gigglewitch · 03/03/2008 00:14

Tis the swearing thread.

ahh, well. looks like PFNM gotta tell the troooffff after all. which is what she wanted to do all along, despite the best efforts of wayward magical persons and cunning fowl trying to lead her astray

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 00:15

I am crap at making decisions can you tell?

Dont want to dig a deeper hole though or shoot myself in the foot by refusing

Beauregard · 03/03/2008 12:56

lol giggle ,nearly right november birthday

Nappyaddict-The job is learning disabilities community support worker.

So having slept on it i am............................................................ still nto sure
I have spoken to a collegue and she said maybe i could just call them and say i need time to consider their kind offer as i have been offered several positions and i need time to decide ? what do you think?
or maybe just not call until they do and then say i am undecided but can i get back to them asap?

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 03/03/2008 13:16

so how is it different to what you do now? i guess you have to decide if you will be happy with the differences to your current job or not.

nappyaddict · 03/03/2008 13:20

was the letter sent by recorded delivery? if not i would wait until they ring you and then just say oh the letter must have got lost in the post. if they ring before the 10th just say oh i think i need a few days to think about it.
