Have got a bit of a mental block about this!

Must not be spooky, a PG or below - things which have gone down well with DS lately have been a bit old-school - Home Alone films (and I can heartily recommend number 2 in the series, three is dreadful) and Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

I think The Three Amigos, with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase is a PG.

It's extremely silly/funny

snice · 26/02/2008 13:15

Shrek?

gonaenodaethat · 26/02/2008 13:16

My 9yr old DS took 'Back to the Future' to her film club (bless) and it went down very well. They (boys and girls) were all glued to it for the whole film.

gonaenodaethat · 26/02/2008 13:16

I mean DD. I'll never get the hang of this.

Iris100 · 26/02/2008 13:18

Hi Marina - it's f-o-o lurking in disguise

OP posts:
Iris100 · 26/02/2008 13:19

Seen Back to the future - although a good thought!

There can't be too much kissing either.

Three Amigos- possible may have to have a look first.

Hi there you - hope name change is not for problematic reasons!
I'd say The Three Amigos was quite broad, but I bet there are fewer loo jokes than in any Shrek

Oh yes, that is a terrific film

marina · 26/02/2008 13:23

The Errol Flynn Robin Hood is fun too

Iris100 · 26/02/2008 13:24

Shrek too babyish for my suddenly mature nearly eight year old Marina!

Name change because DH was snooping. I wasn't very good about clearing my history on the computer! Am not posting much on here at the moment.

Stardust is out on dvd now
£9 in Tesco

Iris100 · 26/02/2008 13:25

Is Stardust a PG Humphrey? We saw the trailer in the cinema when it came out and DS was a bit scared (he really is a Very Sensitive Boy!)

alvin and the chip,munks

are very funny
or an oldie ace ventura pet detective

marina · 26/02/2008 13:26

Ach, sorry to hear that. Hope all is OK.
If they are all mature thinkers like dd, what about Bridge to Terabithia, which is quite a sad film on one level, but beautifully made
or, or, or - my personal favourite at the mo, some Hayao Miyazaki

Spirited Away or My Neighbour Totoro are both adored by my faux-cynic 8 yr old ds

Stunning hand-drawn Japanese animation

Iris100 · 26/02/2008 13:29

Ace Ventura sounds possible.

We love the Studio Ghibli films Marina - seen them all though. Things are all ok thanks - getting there I think. Slowly.

Spirited Away has some quite scary moments - when the mum and dad turn into pigs, for example (gives me goosebumps just thinking about it...) My Neighbour Totoro is great
Can you get Kiki's Delivery Service in the UK? that is another great Studio Ghibli film.

Oh, how about Night at the Museum - my kids love that one!

marina · 26/02/2008 13:43

I blush to recommend it, but actually Johnny English is very popular in our house...
