Are you a writer in need of some motivation? Post here each day or whenever you can with your page count. Or post your hopes for how many pages you want to write each day and then come back and see if you managed them. Even if they are rubbish, at least you will have them down on paper and can make them brilliant at a later date.

I will start. I am hoping to write a second full-length screenplay before August 2008. I have two days a week where I have time to write my own stuff and I am aiming to do 5 pages on each of those days.

Wilbur can I join in even though my writing is for a Creative Writing course currently. I do know that as I move through it my word count will increase and I will need to write something for publication. Sigh...........

Or get somebody to type it for you

Yes, can you imagine being cod's editor? Post your plots here, cod and we can steal them - I need some new ones. Actually, you may find after years of having story ideas kicking round your head, that one day you decide just to sit down and write them. And voila, a book.

Elf - welcome and congrats for having actually finished some stuff. [doffs hat]

Marslady - cool re creative writing course - where are you doing it through? Any particular genre?

Have done bugger all today, despite it being my Writing Day, due to our boiler shutting down and the warranty people telling me that it was past its guarantee (which it isn't). So I spent all morning looking for documentation on boiler installation, then walking into town to fax it to boiler people, then phoning 3 times more to check fax had arrived and make service appt. Sigh. I bet Richard Curtis doesn't have to deal with this shit.

I like the brother/sister idea. Plenty of scope for dramatic conflict . Go on, write it - take 10 mins less on your blog each day and start writing down some ideas.

Well... brief summary! I have 5 published novels and 3 published non-fiction books, with another contracted and on the way. I've had dealings with six different publishing houses. Represented by a leading London agent. Taught Creative Writing to adults for 5 years, and workshops in schools, libraries and other "on location" settings with groups of kids aged 8 to 18 for the past 2 years. You are rather well-qualified to do a read through aren't you! Very impressive.

blimey UQD

I found an online course a few years back which concentrated my mind immensely just because I had to finish assignments. Felt guilty wanting others to critique my work if I hadn't done theirs and Thursday night was always the deadline. Also it wasn't free and dh had bought me a year's sub as a present when I was knee-deep in snot (ds1 & ds2) and recrimination (self)

Best was that they had writers' groups you could also join acc to genre/temperament/not liking the other wacky ha! named ones. I used to post my assignments there too. I wrote almost exclusively bits of a novel I was working on, and I got fab feedback from one of the older writers. Pithy, always honest and invaluable.

Stopped when dd was born. She's now 5...
