Are you a writer in need of some motivation? Post here each day or whenever you can with your page count. Or post your hopes for how many pages you want to write each day and then come back and see if you managed them. Even if they are rubbish, at least you will have them down on paper and can make them brilliant at a later date.

I will start. I am hoping to write a second full-length screenplay before August 2008. I have two days a week where I have time to write my own stuff and I am aiming to do 5 pages on each of those days.

I am still going with the novel, but have recently been reminded of 2 other projects. Dearly love to get stuck in - I always work best with 2-3 things on the go - but just not enough time!

what's your mini-project?

KayHarker · 02/06/2008 21:52

It's essentially a fan-fiction. Nothing of any lasting consequence, but it's an entire episode which will at least give me a sense of having finished a whole story (hopefully!) by the end. Dark Sci-Fi, really, so a nice change from 'The Book', which is children's fantasy, and getting me down at the moment because the characters are just so very flat.

I reckon if I can write a consistent story with someone else's characters, it'll help with my own tone problems.

Not Doc10/Jack slash is it, KH?

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 02/06/2008 21:58

I read when I can't write, find that sometimes helpful as the right author can 'remind' me of my tone. Not looking for one to copy, just sometimes hearing a resonance that reawakens the vibe in my inner ear, if that makes sense!

Not wanky at all, phd, I know exactly what you mean.

KayHarker · 03/06/2008 09:22

Yup, makes sense to me too.

UQD, not slash, you wicked man! [pure and innocent emoticon] Nothing remotely naughty about it at all. It's a father/daughter story, actually ;)

aiming for two - two! whole pages tonight

glad that ear-thing makes sense. do you find it works the other way too? reading the wrong thing can flatten my tone right out.
