Was there a thread SWOONING over the BA pilot who bravely landed that plane and saved all those lives and then went for a curry?

Surely there was? Direct me to it please.
I was fanning myself over the Evening Standard on this story. He's a 43 father of 3 who is capable and manly and swoony as far as I'm concerned. Bet he's got one of those reassuring BA pilot voices too

Either direct me to thread or tell me I'm sad if it's just me swooning.

And is his wife a mumsnetter I wonder?

No, earlier than that I think. She was one of the first ones to make it to the front line. Not the very first group.

Habbibu · 19/01/2008 22:18

doing very well. Rough this week, cos he had chemo on Tuesday.

Went to work for 2 hours every lay of last week!

I knew this lady whose husband was a pilot for AirNewZealand (domestic flights)
She also told me he suffered from Manic Depression.
I didn't want to fly domestic for ages after that ...
Can you imagine being on that flight when the pilot decides he can't go on and wants to 'end it all'?

He was rather dishy though.

There's something about uniforms

Am vaguely wondering if Mr MB may have known my db. He used to fly Tornados too but flies 777s now. A lot of commercial pilots are ex fighter pilots and yes they do look very dashing in uniform.

Think it depends on the uniform...

WendyWeber · 19/01/2008 23:13

I don't think a cassock has quite the same allure, cod

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2008 23:17

I can see why it might be Littleapin

DS did it to the windowcleaner once - when DP was there

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2008 23:18

I quite liked the look of Dp when he came out of the bath tonight and was quite prepered to let other things slide - then he let one off the stinky arse!

hatwoman · 19/01/2008 23:19

I was once one of only two passengers on a 16-seater (that's four-rows of seats - ie bloody tiny), flown by 2 guys who took a box of pizza on board for their lunch and who we paid in cash. not only were they uniformed, calm, manly and deep-voiced, they flew humanitarian flights in dangerous places. now how's that for swoon value?

Monkeytrousers · 19/01/2008 23:20

Oh I am so suceptable at the moment I would probably swoon at teh man who cleans our wheelie bin

lol at this thread. I didn't watch the news on this at all (was it MT who asked?), I just read The Times and The Standard on Friday and read it online at BBC news on Thursday. So I've no idea whether it was appropriate reporting or not. Someone I work with was about to leave for Heathrow when it happened, bet his flight was delayed.

I do think there's something very swoony about pilots, esp BA ones, they have such re assuring voices.
