Was there a thread SWOONING over the BA pilot who bravely landed that plane and saved all those lives and then went for a curry?

Surely there was? Direct me to it please.
I was fanning myself over the Evening Standard on this story. He's a 43 father of 3 who is capable and manly and swoony as far as I'm concerned. Bet he's got one of those reassuring BA pilot voices too

Either direct me to thread or tell me I'm sad if it's just me swooning.

And is his wife a mumsnetter I wonder?

one of the dizziest females I know is now an air traffic controller

where I used to live in the UK we'd probably have had a birds eye view of this incident from our living room window

I used to sit there looking at the planes and thinking how bad it would be if one came down...in fact that one landed very near where I used to work

they are not naturaly hyper though - aren;t they on the same PM drug to keep them going?

Blandmum · 19/01/2008 21:55

Ok, my top gun story (I was away doing a number 2 for a while!)

When dh and I were first married, he was on an RAF base that had 2 squadrons. On the other squadron there were 2 US Marine pilots, dh's squadron had two USAF guys. these guys were all on exchange.

One of the two marines had just done a stint at the real Top Gun, where they filmed some of the aerial parts of the film. He told us (and I can't verify this so Allegedly) all the main stars in Top Gun when up for a trip in an F15. bar one........

wanna guess?

When dh was in training and we were an item. I was once chatted up by a rather dashing student. He asked me out and I said no, I was part on a couple. He asked were my partner was, and I said , 'Anglesea' He asked, 'why is he in Anglesea?'

And I said, 'Doing his fast Jet Training'

The guy laughed and said, 'I don't suppose I can compete with that'

DH appalled at reporter who described the pilot as "dishy". Imagine if it was a female pilot (LOL at your ditzy friend, PW!) - and the reporter said, "She was calm in the incident, brought the plane down beautifully, reassured all the passengers and, my goodness, she has quite the rack on her as well, look!" and cut to a photo of an attractively-chested pilot.

WendyWeber · 19/01/2008 22:04

Don't be silly hunker, they don't let women fly great big planes like that!

What is Tom Cruise on about? And has anyone noticed that his mouth and mannerisms with his mouth look exactly like Nicole Kidman's? How did they manage that?

Piffle · 19/01/2008 22:05

Blandmum · 19/01/2008 22:06

Only ever met the one female pilot. She flew tornados.

very calm woman. Had a beuatiful wedding dress with slik flowers apliqued onto a silk dress, in amongst them were her RAF wings. Tres cool
