How to prove UK address for a 6 year old

DivorcedDad123 · 16/06/2022 16:32

I am applying for a "new UK European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)."

My children have not bought a house, taken out a mortgage under the liar loan application process or NINJA loan process to my knowledge........

I can prove their right to reside in the country and have done so but I am expecting the below to be the next demand.

I have family court documents which I am not in a rush to provide which would prove they reside at my address. Frankly its a ridiculous request and the process or person has clearly not looked at the date of birth.

Is there any other way to go about this?

"Proof of residency in the UK

We need to see 2 documents in your name as proof of your residency in the UK. The address on the documents must match the address on your application.

These documents can be either:

one or more different utility service bills, for example a gas, electric, landline telephone, or satellite television bill dated within the last 3 months

a Local Authority council tax bill dated for the current financial year

a housing association, council tenancy letter or rent agreement which is valid currently

a benefit award notice dated within the last 3 months

a letter from HMRC dated within the last 3 months

a bank, building society, or credit union statement or passbook dated within the last 3 months

an electoral register entry dated for the current financial year

a letter from hospital or GP on headed paper dated within the last 3 months

a mortgage statement from a recognised lender dated within the last 3 months

an HMRC self-assessment letter or tax demand dated for the current financial year

a solicitor’s letter dated within the last 3 months that shows a recent house purchase or land registry including the address

If you cannot provide 2 of the documents listed, send us all alternative evidence that you have available. This must show your full name and the address you have used for your application. You’ll need to tell us why you are sending alternative evidence.

If we're unable to accept the alternative documents, we'll contact you to let you know what you should do next."

Child benefit ?

RoseslnTheHospital · 16/06/2022 16:54

Are you applying for an EHIC or the new GHIC?

INeedtobealone · 16/06/2022 16:56

I applied for a kids GHIC card via DH's application. You need an adults NI number and do it on their application.

Have used my NI number in their application and still received the quoted request, maybe it will just go away with the proof of right to reside

new GHIC, the email response has not been updated I expect, too busy demanding mortgage statements from 6 year olds

Don't get it

NHS card should have the child's address on.

Don't get it

If you claim child benefit for said child the letter they sent you confirming your award..it comes from HMRC and can be used throughout childhood to prove address

RoseslnTheHospital · 16/06/2022 17:10

Are you adding them to your application and are you using the gov.uk site or another site?

Floydthebarber · 16/06/2022 17:11

I imagine if the OP is a high earner she wouldn't have applied as there is a cap.

LittleOwl153 · 16/06/2022 17:11

Are you sure you are using the official NHS site? (There are lots of companies claiming they're official - usually comes with a charge...)

I ask because I did our family ones a few weeks back and I had to provide NI numbers for both my dh and I and then just name and dob for the kids. Nothing else requested. Card came about 4 weeks later...

LittleOwl153 · 16/06/2022 17:15

From gov.uk

How to apply
You can apply for a GHIC on the NHS website.
www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/apply-for-a-free-uk-global-health-insurance-card-ghic/

It’s free to apply for a GHIC. Some websites charge to help you apply - these are unnecessary and you do not need to use them.

You’ll need to provide your:

full name
address
date of birth
National Insurance or NHS number (England and Wales)
CHI number (Scotland)
Health and Care number (Northern Ireland)

NHS card should have the child's address on.

is this known as "NHS medical card" @Needmorelego will give the GP a call tomorrow, the problem is that they are not registered to my address, existing school and GP is not local to me

Cattoes · 16/06/2022 18:45

Ask your GP surgery for demographics print outs for them, that should suffice

LIZS · 16/06/2022 18:49

Nhs cards

LIZS · 16/06/2022 18:51

Either they reside at your address, in which case gp etc will be registered at it, or not. If you are not the resident parent can the other parenr not arrange it?

titchy · 16/06/2022 18:52

If their main residence is now with you then you really need to sort that out and their NHS card updated.

bakewellbride · 16/06/2022 19:10

We had to provide something similar to our son's primary school because he's starting reception there. We went to the bank and got a printed statement. Do your children have savings accounts?

tootsierubs · 16/06/2022 19:28

I've had this reply back too regarding my 16 year old who also doesn't yet have a mortgage or utility bill. He has also had a ehic card previously and we've lived in the same house since has was born. I've no idea why they are unable to confirm that he lives here! I'm going to send a copy of an nhs letter, his payslip and see if that is enough 🤷‍♀️

my partner is too busy and important to bother doing the kids passports, right to remain in the UK as we are both foreign nationals, call doctors for the kids, a typical response I have got when medication (which I got for the kids) was not left in child's bag as custody is 50%, "what are you call me for, I am getting on a plane to go to X, don't bother me with this"

OP posts:
Whereismumhiding4 · 17/06/2022 06:21

So when applying for GHIC (not EHIC now) to HM Gov website, they have asked you for more details because both you and their father are foreign nationals. Of course they will ask for evidence of eligibility and address! ...

Regardless that list includes several things you can arrange and use for evidencing address etc or children - that's just their standards list -

A savings or bank account for child with their address

A DWP benefits letter regarding your child eg child be benefit or child or working tax credit with your address

A HMRC letter regarding your child

A GP or hospital letter for your child

It also says send us alternatives if those aren't available and explain why alternatives

So you already sent right to reside paperwork but letters from school, letters from nhs / health visitors and those court papers might be useful if you've none of the above.

You indicate a bit later that possibly they may have a different address for school/ GP? That's going to be a problem ...

Bunce1 · 17/06/2022 06:27

What about their school data forms?

You will have filled out an school data form for all the relevant contact information on it for your child, ask for a copy of that? Will be on official headed paper? i would try that.

LIZS · 17/06/2022 08:00

Why does it have to be your address if they live elsewhere?

Dreikanter · 17/06/2022 08:17

We had this for our DS who is a dual national (British / Irish). If the type of proof of ID wasn’t on their list then it wasn’t getting accepted. Letter from the Government Driving Licence people stating “we have confirmed your right to residency”? Nope. Even his UK passport showing UK place of birth wasn’t enough.

DH and other DC are also dual nationals but weren’t asked to provide proof of right to reside because I tacked them onto my application. In fact, because I’m only a UK National the system just assumed DH and DC were too.

We only did a separate application for DS because he lives in a different part of the UK and we thought it would be easier to get the card sent direct to him. How wrong I was.

It’s a crap system.
