Have wanted to take Lottie horseriding for ages. As she's 3 in a month and still not walking or even standing, i thought it would be a really nice thing for her, and me, to do together. It's something she can do, other than being taken swimming, that she can (hopefully) really enjoy and get into.

Anyway, every stables I've spoken to has said she has to be 5.
Just spoken to one 12 minutes away from my house and they said that as it's special circumstances (Lottie has Down's syndrome) they will allow me to come down, they've picked out a special little pony, we can borrow her son's gear, they have a back support and she'll walk on one side and I'll walk on the other and I can go down on Friday.

I'm so happy. This woman has put herself out and made allowances and is basically gping out of her way to help us

Lottie might hate it but at least we get to try it.

At the moment she bum shuffles up and down the hall, holding onto pretend reins making 'clip clip' noises, pretending to ride a horse So hopefully she'll love it, I really hope so.

Thanks, fio! Now I've got an album (and a new scanner, I did those on the old one) I'll probably go mad putting ancient sweet family pics in!

Did you list it as public? If so I may be able to find it!

Thomcat · 23/11/2004 15:16

Yeah it's just a public album that any bugger should be able to have a nose at

OP posts:
JanH · 23/11/2004 15:17

Well it won't even show me my pics now - I think I've worn it out

Is your Lottie album under babies?

Thomcat · 23/11/2004 15:18

Thomcat - She's beautiful, and so smiley! Thanks for putting pics up - and thanks JanH for helping!

Thomcat · 26/11/2004 22:50

Well the horse riding was a mixture of totally fantastic and not so good! She objected to the full body armour more than anything else! When she forgot she was virtually unable to move and the riding hat wasn't over her eyes (!) she seemed to love it. She laughed, she sang, she did her 'happy hands' and the girls leading Freddie the pony round was wonderful, kept up a non stop banter of 'Ride-a-cok-horse' etc. Anyway will be going back as soon as I can and hope to keep that up as much as poss. If the objecting escaltes and the enjoyment factor decreases we'll give up, otherwise I'll have mucking out, doing dressage and entering gymkanas before she's walking!

JanH · 26/11/2004 22:55

Let's concentrate on the totally fantastic then, TC! I can imagine the padding and hat were a pita for Lottie - what did she think of the pony though? And your leader sounds fab. Hope it does work out. (And don't horses smell lovely?)
