creepy - mailing bag (aka parcel) arrived with a slit cut

Afternoon.. just had to share this with you as I felt a bit "hmmm... Sad" when I received a parcel today.

Bough a lovely jumper on eBay and it arrived in a small grey mailing bag. Delivered by Myhermes ( seems like Evri is the new name?) but I noticed at the back of the bag there is this long cut (about my middle finger long) and I can see the content.

It looks like done by a cutter knife of a key?

I understand they have tons of parcels to deal with and my parcel could have been under large or sharp boxes etc, but I can't really think what causes this kind of a sharp cut, you know?

Jumper seems ok luckily, but I feel slightly violated :/

(I recognise today's delivery driver and we've been polite to each other always so I'd like to think the driver has nothing to do with this)

Have you experienced something like this before?
do you think some worker did it out of boredom?? Confused

Accidents happen. Perhaps not in the view of the extremely paranoid, but they do. I'd focus your energy on other matters.

My god OP, you’re right that is really creepy.

Loving the ‘aka parcel’ in the title 😄

Mosaic123 · 23/03/2022 16:51

Just normal damage that one expects any day of the week. The plastic was torn probably by being next to other parcels.

Thoughts and prayers 🙏

its definitely not 'creepy'! Creepy would be a slit with burnt edges and severed finger poking out!

Its not been cut with a knife as the edges would be much sharper and cleaner if that was the case. to me it just looks like it got caught on something fairly sharp and torn - could have happened at any point on the supply chain - automatic machinery in the depot, something sharp in the van, could even have happend at the senders end.

Why are you posting on Mumsnet?

Dial 999!!!!!!!!!

Overjoyedd · 23/03/2022 17:02

I've been unlucky perhaps!

Way before Covid I used to use this Argos near my work to receive my eBay orders and the first few times were fine but after that three times in row my parcel bag got large cut and I stopped using them since.

so yeah as @littlefaith (thanks for Flowers anyways) guessed it's cuz of my past experiences triggered to react to this way also jumper being expensive didn't help Grin

More importantly I'm glad most of you haven't experienced something like this Star

That isn't a cut, it's a tear

VodselForDinner · 23/03/2022 17:04

Violated and triggered because of a ripped piece of plastic?

I genuinely wonder how some people make it through the day.

Most of us have!!!

We just dealt with it as, you know, ADULTS!!!

TheHoptimist · 23/03/2022 17:18

Violated.

Gosh.

have you thought about how insulting that is to people who are genuinely violated on a daily basis?

Overjoyedd · 23/03/2022 17:25

I wish those adults who handle parcels were a little more carful in the first place, then we would not have to experience these.

I think you need to find a hobby

Georgeskitchen · 23/03/2022 17:41

Massive overthink here. I was expecting a severed finger to be inside!!🤣

MaryAndHerNet · 23/03/2022 17:43

Have you logged it with 101?
Cancelled the cheque for it?
Given it to Brian in exchange for his services?
Is it relegated to a beaker warmer?
Has the daily mail picked up this thread and there's privacy concerns?

much excitement

I used to work on an insudtrial estate where My Hermes were. You do not want to know what the delivery drivers do with the packages, but I've seen them thrown, run over, etc. Use your imagination and yes!
