It is nice the nans love their grandchildren so much (as mine does) but to ask your daughter to leave the grandchild behind - I don't think so.

She should be pleased that her daughter recovered and has a nice chance of happiness, albeit in New Zealand.

Am so glad Harry is in NZ, and am now starting to think NiceLady is in fact SlightlyOddLady.
She asked her dd to leave Harry behind?? Really? What sort of mother wold even consider asking that of her own daughter? She should just be relieved her dd is alive and Harry can have a happy life with his mum and a new dad!
