Well, I'm a size 9 and a wide foot t that.

I can't tell you the trouble I used to have getting shoes. Its a bit easier now but where do you get your shoes?

Evans only do wide fittings, I need AA.

dot1 · 08/11/2004 13:36

I'm a 10, widest fitting! Can only get them at Evans, and then only if I'm lucky and they've got stuff in. But at least I only have one shop to go to - I HATE shoe shopping and always have, 'cos it's always been such a nightmare...!

Cadbury · 08/11/2004 13:43

And dot's the winner!
Good grief woman!

What did we do before Evans? I've been writing them snotty emails about not selling their shoes online for years and they are starting to do it now. Not a very large range though.
I swear I'd have a real shoes fettish if I had smaller feet. I'd buy hundreds of pairs. As it is, I have to buy a pair of boots and wear then until they fall to bits and then wait until some more are in a sale to buy some more. My boots have fallen to shreds on the inside this winter (I got them over a year ago) but I can't justify getting anymore until the outside has gone too.

BTW shoe size and boob size are connected in my experience . Sadly, its connected to thigh size, waist girth, hip swing, broadness of shoulders, capacity for chocolate eating and pretty much everything else! I'm just a big girl really!

couldn't agree more Cadbury!!! Have started on diet no. 3,000, but am resigned to always been at least a size 18 (currently between 20 - 22) and have big everything, basically - hence needing the huge wide feet..!!

Cadbury · 08/11/2004 14:22

Are you my mirror image dot?

OP posts:
JanH · 08/11/2004 14:24

how tall are you, dot? you are sounding exactly like me in every respect so far (except your feet are bigger!)

handlemecarefully · 08/11/2004 14:32

This is the first time I have ever considered my size 8's to be dainty!

Cadbury · 08/11/2004 15:20

I wonder if me dot and jan look like each other too?

7 or 8 depending on the shoes and super wide. Just got some great boots from Peacocks, size 8 really wide too. They are flat, camel coloured with fur showing and only £25. Evans is also my other saviour.

At school, did you also have to wear really awful brown lace ups? because there was only one shoe that would fit and they were the the worst possible stylereally old fashioned ones.

Tickle · 08/11/2004 18:02

Absolutely Kanga Mummy - remember leaving assembly in tears once cos some big girls were sniggering at my shoes
I'm not bitter...

Tickle · 08/11/2004 18:05

Oh, and I remember trawling the internet once - there are some great sites for transvestite men that do some outrageous shoes in big sizes (not all black PVC boots!) - might be good for a party

Aero · 08/11/2004 18:10

I was often asked when growing up if I had my shoes made in the shipyard!! Judging by this thread though and putting my 'boats' beside Cadbury's, a 7 seems positively minute!! Have a friend though (you've met her Cadders) who's at the other end of the scale - she wears a size 1!! Now that's what I call diddy wee feet!

Cadbury · 08/11/2004 18:26

She does have very diddy feet. I remember asking her if she had trouble getting shoes that looked like grown ups shoes!

My dad used to get me (and my mum who has incredibly narrow feet) special lace-up shoes from the quartermasters stores in the army hospital where he worked. They were very boring looking shoes but very comfortable and sensible. Not really what you want when you are 15 though!

Tickle- You don't happen to remember the address of that site do you?

I'm a size 8 and Evans wide fittings fitted me before pregnancy but one pair of boots and one pair of sandles still don't fit and my son is now 16 months old! I'm back to my prepregnancy weight (admittedly still far too much) I wonder if they do aerobics classes for feet! I feel I will be getting married in trainers wellies or slippers.

When I go shoe shopping with my son or nephew I always feel so sorry for them as they too can never have the fun style due to width or size.

The guardian did this great supplement with a big feet section but alas not a wide feet section

JanH · 08/11/2004 19:01

What about J D Williams (? catalogue of old-lady shoes that comes through the post?) You could probably find something slightly smarter than slippers in there, jane...

Here you are - Cosyfeet - go up to EEEEEEEEE or something!

collision · 08/11/2004 19:28

Im a size 8 and havent bought a pair of shoes in over 18 months! Italians have the TINIEST feet and if I ask for a size 42 they laugh at me!! I have to go back to the UK if I want shoes......I miss England.

Dingle · 08/11/2004 19:37

I'll be checking out your feet next time we get together Cadbury!!

Cadbury · 08/11/2004 20:57

Oh no, please don't!
