What's the most iriitating thing about Facebook?

I like Facebook, I use Facebook, it can be useful but it does irritate me sometimes. I've unfollowed quite a few people. Not because they're awful or anything but the stuff they put on can be annoying.

So what's the most iritating thing about Facebook for you?

One thing that makes me roll my eyes is the very staged, perfect photos of younger children who are being made to pose for something or other. I only occasionally post photos of my toddler but if I do, he certainly doesn't look perfect. More like, a dishevelled and unruly little pickle. Haha! Grin

Sorry for 'irritating' typo in the title

Nothing about friends posts at all even the "feeling blessed " but I can't stand the people you may know section for some reason it drives me nuts.

Overdueanamechange · 24/06/2021 15:12

I used Facebook for my business (not MLM!) so I'm on it a lot.
My main hates are

  1. Photos of plates of food (unless rate my plate satire).
  2. The fact that I am linked to my business means I can't call out twatty comments on the local spotted sites!
I keep saying I need to have an anonymous made up profile so that I can challenge (usually youngish men) covid deniers and the transwomen are women brigade.

This is probably a bit random but it really irritates me that, when posting in groups, some people have started to make the first sentence almost like a subtitle. For example on a paddleboarding page I’m on people will post:

Buoyancy aids. Can anyone recommend a good one?

Instead of:

Can anyone recommend a good buoyancy aid?

I don’t know why it irritates me so much!

OldTinHat · 24/06/2021 15:17

The most irritating thing about Facebook?

Facebook.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 24/06/2021 15:17

Yes we know you are having a baby, we don't need the constant posts of your naked stomach or you holding your bump under your clothing.
Also, good luck with your mum, shes telling you she won't be removed from you giving birth even though you have told her only one birth partner is allowed.
Plus also, glam ma????

redcarbluecar · 24/06/2021 15:20

I like to see pics of people’s holidays and children, but find it annoying when there’s a rolling stream of them.

Statuses that are actually just a message to one person - why not send it privately?

And those ‘I have been challenged…’ posts where you then see endless pics of album covers.

NotMeNoNo · 24/06/2021 15:21

Those cartoon avatars that look like clones

coffeeandjuice · 24/06/2021 15:23

Posts that are along the lines of "90% of people who read this won't repost, but maybe you'll be in the 10% who care about cancer and will"

iloverock · 24/06/2021 15:25

Sooo much annoys me. I have a business page or I would delete it.
The constant posts about mum who died 20 years ago. The passive aggressive posts aimed at someone. Just bloody say it.
People who air their dirty laundry.
People who i Barely know who try to add me.
Community pages full of bitching at each other.
People who put every detail of their lives up.

squiddylama · 24/06/2021 15:26

Ohh the photo of a hospital/checking in at hospital with no context then the 'DM me' if anyone asks Grin
Also hate the ones who update is on their pregnancy journey three times a day. I know more about her pregnancy than I did my own!

Omg yes. So annoying!

shetlandponies · 24/06/2021 15:28

The people you may know

They're often either people I hate or people I've shagged or a combination of the two

mag2305 · 24/06/2021 15:29

I have to say, I'm OK with food/meal photos on Facebook. Especially if it's a restaurant, pub, tea room or food business that's being recommended.

Advertising. I use it only for local news. I'm an old gimmer and don't know anyone who actually uses it for anything else anymore.

Remember Friends Reunited...?

Everything

MargaretFraggle · 24/06/2021 15:35

@LadyCatStark

It annoys me almost as much as posts on here which start with "Just that really" and then go on for several paragraphs.

lazylinguist · 24/06/2021 15:38

I don't think there's anything particularly irritating about Facebook per se. Pretty much everything people find irritating about it is really because of who they follow or the way they choose to use FB or engage with the people on it. In the unlikely event that I'd find someone/something 8 follow offensive, or boring and irritating, I'd unfriend them or unfollow their posts.

I do totally agree that attention-seeking, mysterious 'DM me' and '90% of people won't share this because they don't care about x,y or z' are spectacularly annoying. I've unfollowed anyone who posts that kind of bollocks!

missmopple · 24/06/2021 15:48

I am on a couple of local groups which cover a large region and there are always people asking things like "where can I get xxx" but they never think to say where they are so the suggestions are for places 2 hours drive away. I'm not in the UK, but it would be like someone asking on a Yorkshire forum for recommendations for a good local printer.

Also, a group for travel between UK and France and someone will ask "anyone going to UK soon who can give me a lift". Well, we might be, but France and the UK are big places so where you and where you want to get to would be nice. See also: anyone going to the airport on Tuesday. I can't be arsed to google how many airports there are in France, but there is definitely more than one Grin

It is particularly irritating at the moment with all the travel restrictions as they change so quickly, so someone will ask "what documents do I need to get the ferry" and people will reply with "we did it 4 weeks ago and we only needed xyz" which can be completely misleading as things were very different 4 weeks ago.

This is going to sound really mean...
But the references to dead grandma.

Grandma was very old, had lived a long and happy life, it was her natural time. So the "today would be grandma's 106th birthday" make me clench my teeth because it's not really likely that grandma would have lived to 106.

I’ve actually seen “Grandad can’t believe you’ve made it to 100! Happy heavenly birthday!” Now, I know I also sound really mean, but Grandad didn’t make it to 100 did he??
SingingSands · 24/06/2021 16:57

@LadyCatStark Grin

That's bonkers... where does it end?!

"Happy 151st birthday Grandma!"

Overdueanamechange · 24/06/2021 19:31

@SingingSands I thought it was just me! When people address their posts to their dead relative / cat, the bitch in me always thinks "they can't read this, you know!"
