Anyone else addicted to mumsnet and worried about the time it's zapping?

I need to spend more time on real life .... Mumsnet is SO incredibly useful - and cheering when I'm tired and low - it's just TOO EASY to sit down at the keyboard instead of tidying up or sorting out my pension or whatever ....

Need to get disciplined.

Norwich Union best for pensions. Nice and easy and friendly. Stakeholder is best bet.

SORTED. Now back to mumsnet (it's my first night!).

I feel exactly the same. It really is taking over my RL, sad but true. The thing is I do have a life and lots of friends but I still like it on here. My hosuework is seriously suffering because of it too [deadly serious face]
MN has been a godsend at times though

moomina · 04/11/2004 21:39

Yup, totally taking over my life. Ds is wasting away in a corner, covered in cobwebs, while I type.

jiggy · 04/11/2004 21:41

No really, I am serious!

You think I'm joking, jiggy?

MrsMiaWallace · 04/11/2004 21:43

have been thinking for some time about how long i spend on here, been spurred on by this thread.
will try annd limit my time to one night a week, as dp is being(although not feeling) neglected and i cant get to sleep thinking about all the posts and trying to solve the worlds problems.

thanks to everyone for their advice(in this and my prevuiious name!)

can't you let your computer break down for a while then you can't go on (it did it for me but now back to bad old habits)...seriously...can't you at the start of the day list your important house-holdy jobs and give them a vague time slot...#

eg. tidying up 30 mins
cleaning bathroom 30 mins
preparing dinner 30 mins
dusting 1 hour
that takes you up to about11.30am...have a tea break, twirl bar or whatever (doing all those jobs with local radio on in background for company)

clean windows after break and make some lunch or whatever..

ie.If you get 3 hours worth of housework in FIRST of anysorts you're entitled to some play time (much like children work, then have a break) spend 1 hour on mumsnet...get back to it/or visit friend and then at least if you've got your jobs done you can not feel guilty about it then....but then who am I to give advice having spent the whole day on downloading photos hope you get something out of this

As I am on unlimited broadband I leave the pc on and dip in and out during the day.
I know I'll switch to one that you have to pay by the minute, that'll stop me coming on here so much
Mind you my bill for ds's miniclips trips would still be horrendous

jiggy · 04/11/2004 22:04

We're the same, blossomhill - fatal

blossomhill · 04/11/2004 22:26

Jiggy - I have said this so many times this week but this place is like a cult. Once you are drawn in it's hard to get out

Caligula · 04/11/2004 22:59

Lavender how wierd are you - an hour on dusting?

yoyo · 04/11/2004 23:22

I used to go to the gym.. Today DDs referred to my wobbly bits. 'Nuff said!

lavender2 · 04/11/2004 23:33

it's only once a month (downstairs and once every move upstairs

Chandra · 05/11/2004 01:13

I'm slowly weaning myself of it, it's fun, useful and very addictive, I have reduced the hours per day from 5 to 1.5, So there is hope

Tickle · 05/11/2004 08:16

Lavender - could you jot down that housework timetable in a bit more detail for me, so I can pin it to the fridge? It's exactly what I need

{wades over dusty toy-strewn floor to put kettle on...}

suzywong · 05/11/2004 08:17

LOL there's one of these threads about every 3 months, even the old girls can't come up with a solution, just give in to MN!

anorak · 05/11/2004 09:12

Look what ks did, she tried to get herself banned off mumsnet because she said the RL/Mumsnet line was getting too blurred for her.

3 weeks later she was back. It's hopeless. What's the point of even trying to give up?

MrsBigD · 05/11/2004 09:18

most definitely addictive!
I've got the feeling that dd already knows the phrase 'I'll be there in a moment' (accompanied by frantic typing sounds) only too well...

Better go and get her dressed and fed now! Thankfully ds is blissfully unaware and asleep!

lavender2 · 05/11/2004 09:40

sure tickle..off to work back later

Ha ha ha ks. Make sure you are in a big open plan office where everyone can see your screen, don't log on at work now. But, hey, I'm on strike today.
