Knitting problem - help please

Sorry, know it's not exactly an exciting dilemma for a Friday night and am not expecting to be deluged with replies but...

Haven't knitted for a while and am a bit rusty. Am stumped on the 3rd row of my pattern. Very basic interpretations needed please of the following:

K1(K1, yfwd, K1) into next st. Now, I get all the K1 and yfwd stuff, just can't work out what bit goes into next stitch.

Thank you so much for any help.

knit? sounds more like a knot to me

80sMum · 29/10/2004 23:35

Can you copy the whole row instruction? It'll be easier to interpret if I can see the whole row, or at least a bit more of it. What does it say after "K1(K1, yfwd, K1) into next st"?

Tinker · 29/10/2004 23:52

Oh, replies, thank you.

Right, whole row:

K1(K1, yfwd, K1) into next stitch, (K1 wrapping yarn twice round needle) 5 times, (K1, yfwd, K1, yfwd, K1) into next stitch, rep from to last 7 sts, (K1 wrapping yarn twice round neeedle) 5 times, (K1, yfwd, K1) into next sts, K1.

Thanks

Well, trying to knit a rather nice knitted jacket (cardi, in other words) from latest Rowan catelogue. I've done 2 rows so far and am stuck . And this one is classified as "Easy, straight forward knitting" and again

this is probably wrong, haven't knitted for ages.

does it mean k1 then on the next stitch, k1 take yfwd and then knit into the back of the stitch, so the second stitch of the row ends up looking like 3 stitches. does that make sense?

Tinker · 30/10/2004 14:53

Could do beansmum. But why the bracket there? That's what's throwing me I think.

OP posts:
beansmum · 30/10/2004 14:55

cos whats in the bracket is all worked on one stitch, the 2nd stitch of the row.

Tinker · 30/10/2004 14:59

Oooooo, still confused. Wouldn't the bracket be after the "into next stitch" bit? Oh, god, where's my mum. You're being very patient with me beansmum.

OK - now that I have cleaned up after feeding my dd her yoghurt, didn't want to get virtual yoghurt all over your cardi-to-be.

I think I may have figured it out. If you are making bobbles and the next row is full of p5tog etc. Then try the following.
Stitch1 - K1
Stitch2 - K1, yfwd, K1 all into the one stitch (so you have 3 stitches where there was only one)
Stitch3 - K1 wrapping yarn twice round needle (so you have 2 stitches where there was only one)
Stitch4 to Stitch7 - ditto
Stitch8 - K1, yfwd, K1, yfwd, K1 all into the one stitch (so you have 5 stitches where there was only one)
Repeat stitch 3 to 8 till only 7 left on the needle
Stitch3 to stitch 7 again
Stitch2
Stitch1

Does anyone have any second opinions on this?
Tinker, if you are not putting bobbles on the cardigan - please please ignore me and try someone else
