What size would you buy?

Bit odd, well maybe not for mumsnet!
I just don't know which size boots to get for Lottie!

So, she's not walking (has Down's syndrome so a late walker, and not showing any signs of getting there tbh). She's 3 at Xmas, probably won't actually be walking till she's at least 4.

I've seen a pair of boots I really want to get her for when she is walking but no idea what size to buy.

Amazing boots - pink suede cowboy boots, they are so lovely, I've fallen in love with them

So she's barely a real size now, she has the dinkiest feet. What size should I buy her now ready for her when she's walking, say at about 5yrs old.

Size 36, 37, 38 or 39?

I just don't know and only mumsnet can help!

Don't know about the sizes but I'd say if you're in any doubt get a larger size so she can grow into them rather than just missing wearing them.

JoolsToo · 28/10/2004 22:20

they're adult sizes aren't they? 38 is adult size 5?

Twiglett · 28/10/2004 22:20

I'd just buy the biggest .. if the boots are that lovely she'll grow into them at some stage?

EvesMama · 28/10/2004 22:21

go and get her feet measured somewhere (clarks or clinks), they might be able to suggest a growth pattern?hth

aloha · 28/10/2004 22:23

Ds is three and size 6, which I think is 26ish. The sizes you've mentioned soudn like adult sizes to me - I'm size 7 and that's 40!

WestCountryLass · 28/10/2004 22:25

I could be entirely wrong and out of order but if she's not walking yet and she has DS, might cowboy boots be pushing it (would she be able to walk in them)? I am not meaning to rain on your parade at all but just trying to be practical!!!! Is there a size that would fit her now that she could wear non-crawling so you can indulge and get the boots anyway?

marsup · 28/10/2004 22:29

I wear size 36, that can't be right!

marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:31

They do sound like adult sizes - ds2 is a 24 (he's almost 3). And 39 is definitely 6 because it's my size.

Tbh, TC - I'm not sure I'd bother. It's sod's law that they will fit her in the height of summer or that she will have funny feet (like a high instep, or very broad, or narrow heels).

When she is walking (I said WHEN, and I hope it will be soon) you can take her out and get properly fitted shoes. You can take her for juice and a cake in a cafe and make a real Mum and dd shoe shopping expedition out of it. There will always be nice shoes - I promise.

Thomcat · 28/10/2004 22:33

She'll walk fine eventually Westcountrylass, and when she does she'll have pink suede cowboy boots waiting for her

So now I'm even more confused.

Going off to see if I can find you a link so you can all see them and then help me!

tamum · 28/10/2004 22:34

They sound gorgeous (although too big in those sizes, as the others have said). Could you not buy her some now for wearing in her pushchair and so on? If she didn't try to bear any weight in them it wouldn't harm her feet would it?

Ah go on go on go on

Thomcat · 28/10/2004 22:38

Ohhh, no, I don't want to be sensible, not unless you all tell me I'm being mad. I dream of seeing her walk around in boots like this

OP posts:
marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:39

Try again TC - I see no boots!

tamum · 28/10/2004 22:39

Nope, I'm getting a purple mac there I'm afraid. DON'T be sensible, what's the point of that?

marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:40

I didn't get a purple mac - I got just writing.

marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:42

these?

Oh not sure that woked try this

They are style number 56018pnk in Boden www.boden.co.uk

Am I being silly? It's fine if you think I am, if enough of you think it's mad i won't do it!

OP posts:
WestCountryLass · 28/10/2004 22:44

Yeeeeeha! They are lovely boots!

tamum · 28/10/2004 22:45

If they're the ones on marthamoo's link they are fab! They would probably fit a 5-6 year old in the smallest size, I guess. You will just have to find some equally groovy smaller ones

Thomcat · 28/10/2004 22:47

Yes marthamoo, love you, those are the ones. She needs to be walking really, she has to wear them with stripey tights and skirts until she walk as she just ends up with the skirt as a belt and just a big nappy hanging out!
They need to be walked in with a skirt really.

so am I mad buying them now and if I'm not what size should I buy?

tamum · 28/10/2004 22:48

Not mad, but I would get the smallest size, it will be a good few years before she grows into even a 30, I would say.

marthamoo · 28/10/2004 22:49

If you can't live without them (and I am suspecting you can't!) I would go for the 30. I think tamum is right and that would be OK for a 5-6 year old. Are you going to get a pair for you too?! £55 though

WestCountryLass · 28/10/2004 22:50

Is it those boots you want to get or some that are similar in pre-schooler sizes? If she is dinky then they won't fit her as they are adult sizes, definitely get her feet measured in Clarks and then get, say, a couple of sizes bigger for ehr to grow into.

I don't think you are being silly, you obviously wnat your little girl to look funky and whats wrong with that? I was just thinking that she might nfind it hard to walk in heeled boots kwim? But you know her the best, just ignore me and my sensible head!

Thomcat · 28/10/2004 22:53

The cayalouge is confusing as list is like this:

SHORT 30,31,32,33,34,35
TALL 36, 37,38,39

but website doesn't mention tall or short style.

Will have to ring them and check.

So am i allowed and am I still buying the smallest size I can, hopefully the size 30 in the tall style
