O.k i'm off to a party in a couple of weeks and would like my hair to look like \link{http://www.getlippy.com/getgorgeous/hairstyle/jossstone/this}

My hair is a bit shorter than that and dark but thats sort of how i want it, curly but not proper curls iykwim.

I can usually get it to look like that with a lot of effort but it all drops out within an hour or so.

I'd give the rags a go as I did mine recently for an 80s night (madonna) and it stayed in ages.I used cut up kitchen roll as my papers to keep the ends smooth then rolled up and tied. Leave some sections out and put them in large rollers so that you have varying waves/curls as this looks more natural. Have a good look in boots for firm hold products and don't have hair too wet. Slightly damp is best. Plus when doing top section don't wind it too close to scalp or else you may find it looks too high though this depends on length and weight of your hair? Rub a small amount of serum on your palms and work through before spray.

I did think of that whitefeather but my straighteners are really wide so it wouldn't work.

I'll try the rags out one night before the party i think just to see if it works.

'sigh' would love hair like that. On my wedding day I had my hair set in rollers and I remember the hairdresser putting mousse on each section before rolling it up, couldn't tell you if it was special mousse or not.

peeps head round door

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but it's quite difficult to get your hair looking like that on your own and for the look to work.

If I were you, I'd print the picture, find a salon and ask if you went in with freshly washed dry hair would they be able to style it for you (probably cost around £20) hth

Wish I had hair thick enough to look like that! I do know some people who followed instructions for this type of look but never got it right (unfortunatly)

sneaks off to lurk once more

nutcracker · 26/10/2004 16:32

Hmmm might do that Suzysox if all else fails.

Do you have a Wilkinson's near to you? It's just my hairdresser from Toni and Guy said theirs for £15 are brill. We are talking straighteners right?

Defo get Carmen Girls Curling Tongs - The pink ones - although they make your hair quite curly as aposed to tousled.

Try these or \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11853&item=5529121866/these}
Ebay may not be the best place to get them but this is where i remembered seeing them.

SpringChicken · 26/10/2004 16:47

I've heard about a product recently that's supposed to make hair look like that just by scrunching it while blow drying. It's called John Frieda Ocean Waves but I haven't been able to find it yet and fear that it's only available in the States.

I have stick straight hair and when I used to curl it I would give each strand a spritz of hair spray just before I curled it and that really helped it last.

nutcracker · 26/10/2004 18:18

That sounds good, will have to look out for that.
