Thinking of having a long break or leaving MN

I know loads of people will say no don't go (she hopes anyhow )

Anyway i'm not even sure why but i just feel quite crappy recently as am having money probs, relationship, probs e.t.c e.t.c. and am just not sure being on MN all the time is helping although i do really appreciate any advice i'm given.

If i could stay away remains to be seen anyway, but i feel like i've lost touch with reality a bit and am sinking into a black hole.

I know a few others have had breaks , did you think it helped at all ???

It's up to you whether you have a break or not, it can help clear you head for a while but please don't disappear totally, stay on msn or in email contact.

bran · 22/10/2004 21:18

I'll miss you nutty, loads of people will . But I know what you mean, it's not really real is it? I find Mumsnet very useful, but it is a bit escapist. Do you think that the problem is that you're friends with virtual people (real virtual people iyswim), or that you spend too much time on-line?

You could always try not logging on for a set period (like 8 weeks) and see how much difference it makes to your life, or perhaps give yourself only 1 hour a week on here.

lou33 · 22/10/2004 21:20

good luck nutty, keep in touch

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 21:20

Well i come on every day without fail really and am on for a long time each time.

I don't know i'm not sure it will help me not being on here but like you said i won't know until i try it.

At one time all I did was read and forbid myself to join in (very emotional reasons at the time). Maybe a period like that might help you.

moomina · 22/10/2004 21:29

Give it a try, nutty, but if you're anything like me it won't last very long

I have tried to have a break and even tried flouncing once or twice (not that anyone would notice!) but am always back the next day. I go through stages where I think MN is the greatest thing ever, then I get a bit pissed off with it and feel a bit claustrophobic about the whole thing AND get massive guilt trips when I feel I am ignoring ds to get on here.

Never ceases to amaze me how it is possible to get so ridiculously addicted to one site. There's no other site I've ever visited that I am so hooked on.

bran · 22/10/2004 21:29

All I can say is that if you think the time you spend on here has an adverse effect on your life, then maybe it does. Do keep in touch a bit though, otherwise we'd be worrying about you.

MadameButterfly · 22/10/2004 21:36

I don't have net access at home now and do miss it.

I try to get on at least once a week when I take DD to tumble tots as the library is just above the centre it is held in.

I say give it a try and see how it goes. you can always take the kids to the library and let them have a look at the kids section while you have a quick fix if necessary

ChicPea · 22/10/2004 21:39

Nutty, what's your glasses/contact lenses prescription?

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 21:45

OP posts:
ChicPea · 22/10/2004 21:55

It was so long ago and you post on sooooo many threads, I can't remember. Anyway, if you find out your prescription, I might be able to cheer you up...

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 21:57

jamiesam · 22/10/2004 22:04

(Lurker admires Chicpea's technique. Nutcracker, you can't escape MN clutches.)

ChicPea · 22/10/2004 22:05

Just had to nip upstairs to give DS Irritating Nighttime cough medicine.

You can ring the optometrist where you had the test and ask for your prescription. You paid for it so it's your right to know.

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 22:12

Was just thinking that Jamiesam, now i have to come back to see what she has up her sleeve

OP posts:
ChicPea · 22/10/2004 22:15

The sooner the better...

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 22:18

Ah right will get on to it tommorow then.

Aero · 22/10/2004 22:59

My dear Nutty - you can't go!!!!!!!!! However, if you feel you must (or should), glasses or no glasses, could you please CAT me so I can chat to you on msn or something coz I'd really miss you! You make me smile!

libb · 22/10/2004 23:09

You can't go! - I need you to tell me how to look after my anticipated leather sofas . . .

I don't want you to go - but I want you to be happy as well. Do whatever makes that possible. However, you are much loved here so don't forget that. xxxx
