Neighbour's cleaner

Hi
My neighbour's cleaner does't stay for the amount of time I think she is supposed to. I see her going about 2 hours in to a three hour shift and she smokes outside their front door too.

Should I tell my neighbour?

how well do you know your neighbour, jane

jane103 · 11/10/2004 19:06

Well, we used to have a really good friend in common years ago. But now we just say hello when we put our recycling out.

She does have a lot of empty wine bottles.

No, IMO it's not your business to spy on your neighbours cleaner. Sorry

AuntyQuated · 11/10/2004 19:08

you could ask her if she'd recommend her cleaner ( and if not, her offy)

LOL, AQ! I was wondering if the wine bottles had any bearing, jane!

coppertop · 11/10/2004 19:09

As you don't know the cleaner's contracted hours I would say nothing unless your neighbour mentions it.

BadHair · 11/10/2004 19:09

Hhhm tough one. I guess if your neighbour is happy with the standard of cleaning it shouldn't matter how long the cleaner is staying for.

I'd be tempted to ask your neighbour if she's happy with her cleaner, as you were thinking of employing her. Then ask her for a rough idea of how much she charges for the 2 hours she's there.

Bit sneaky I know.

jane103 · 11/10/2004 19:10

Yes but I would want to know if my cleaner sloped off early.

Her boyfriend comes in when he comes to pick her up sometimes too.

So what if she smokes outside their frontdoor.
Has your neighbour complained about the standard of cleaning?
Is your neighbour a good friend of yours.?and to be honest is it any of your business?
There are probably more important things to be doing or worrying about aren't there?

coppertop · 11/10/2004 19:11

Very devious, Badhair. I like your style!

jane103 · 11/10/2004 19:11

But i have my own cleaner, so that wouldn't work.

OP posts:
vict17 · 11/10/2004 19:12

I'm sorry but I agree with doobydoo - I really don't think it's any of your business and how do you know it's her boyfriend? And are you implying she drank the wine?!

AuntyQuated · 11/10/2004 19:12

does her boyfriend stay long?

jane103 · 11/10/2004 19:13

And I know for a fact that she doesn't like smoking at all.

OP posts:
vict17 · 11/10/2004 19:14

It's not up to an employer to tell an employee that they can't smoke outside!

pollyanna · 11/10/2004 19:14

my view is that I don't mind if my cleaner leaves before the time is up so long as she does everything properly - there are times when I ask her to do extra things.

doobydoo · 11/10/2004 19:14

Maybe you should use the hours spent spying on your neighbours cleaner to clean your own house.

jane103 · 11/10/2004 19:14

I don't know- I try not to look at the boyfriend as we used to be close a few months back.

I have no idea about the wine, think she may prefer bacerdi Breezers.

OP posts:
AuntyQuated · 11/10/2004 19:15

is she smoking in her work time or braek time?

jane103 · 11/10/2004 19:16

She just smokes - I dont know if she has break time.

OP posts:
AuntyQuated · 11/10/2004 19:17

is this sour grapes jane?
what do you mean 'close'?

doobydoo · 11/10/2004 19:17

I don't believe this is a real prob.I think someone is winding us up here. Please!

coppertop · 11/10/2004 19:17

Do you mean you and the boyfriend used to be close?

JanH · 11/10/2004 19:18

Not sure about winding up but I'm finding it very funny
