Hey, TC, can I have a credit please?

musica · 11/10/2004 21:36

Thomcat - you are so lovely.

Thomcat · 11/10/2004 21:38

And Janh who is just bloody gorgeous and kind and funny and always there when I need her!

JanH · 11/10/2004 21:39

Well thanks for that darling but that wasn't what I meant! (Will email you!)

marthamoo · 11/10/2004 21:45

I'm so glad to see this thread - read yesterday (missed the thread so don't know what it was about - but caught the aftermath) but didn't post. I hate aggravation and I always thnk "are they talking about me?" - am I a cliquey, unfriendly, ignoring MNer? I can't physically post on every thread - I'm here too much anyway and dh would divorce me.

Anyway - why I wouldn't leave MN (famous last words..):

It makes me think.
It makes me laugh.
Sometimes it makes me cry.
Whether I'm having a bad day or a good one, I can always find someone to share it with.
It reassures me that living with small children isn't always a barrel of laughs.
It keeps me sane (well....)
It makes me feel part of a community.
It introduces me to people I would never meet.
It gives me an insight into the other side of parenting - what it's like to have a child with Special Needs.
It makes me a better Mum.
It makes me a worse Mum!

MissHoolie · 11/10/2004 21:57

TC's post has copperfastened my intention to hang around and hope that I too can help someone if I can.

Even saw I have had a thread before I arrived all about Balamory.

lou33 · 11/10/2004 22:02

Best thing about mn are the singalongs in chat

Thomcat · 11/10/2004 22:49

Ahh thanks Musica
Janh - oh well I still think you're great but don't know what you mean, I'll get your email when I get into work tomorrow.

susanmt · 11/10/2004 22:50

For the breadth, depth and wealth of experience shared.

I've not had an easy 3 years or so since I discovered MN, (I already had dd1 when I found it and had PND), then I had a m/c. then ds (including my first kidney stones), PND again, then an unexpected pregnancy, more kidney stones, severe PND that almost landed me in hospital, and through it all I have always known that day or night I could turn on the computer and there would be someone there.

MN saved me about £500 when looking for flights to Canada last year. People have given so much help and advice and I've been overwhelmed with the support for our mad trip to Guatemala next year.

Yes, I don't always agree with people, yes things get heated, but I'm so glad MN is here. Its where I turn when I have a problem, not only with the children, but generally. From tiny little tips about everyday life to coping with a long term painful and depressing illness, through all the worries of an exceptionally complicated pregnancy, I've always known someone would be here. I can't even start to name names incase I missed someone out.

I just hope that now and again I've been able to help someone just a tiny bit as much as I have been helped. Even dh now says 'what about asking Mumsnet' (or 'your ladies' as he calls you all) when there is anything we are discussing about the kids.

Thanks Mumsnet. I think there are times I might have gone under without it. Plus, its fun! Todays thread about husbands was enough to make me laugh, and that was a bit thing today!

Thomcat · 11/10/2004 22:50

Oh and MissHoolie (great name), I don't know what copperfastened means but I'm glad all the same!!!

MissHoolie · 11/10/2004 22:54

guaranteed, made my mind up, no going back.

Thomcat · 11/10/2004 22:56

Thank you!

Aero · 11/10/2004 23:18

All of the above!!!! Am a hopeles addict now and can't leave. Welcome MissHoolie btw!
Mn has been a real mainstay to me when I was having bf problems and mastitis! I had loads of support which helped me through a difficult patch in ds2's early months - stumbled across it by accident when looking for info re my problems and got more advice, support, help and experience here than I could ever have found elsewhere! Since then, I've made lots of new friends who are very real to me despite having not met many of you. Those of you I've met in RL have been lovely and I look forward to spending some more time with you. Also a new email buddy or two (you know who you are) - that's great fun too. Mn has so many +++++s. I tend not to post on anything too heated - I hate conflict and avoid it where I can unless I can help calm the storms!
You're all a smashing bunch and I hope to be around for a long time to come! Even my dh is interested now. He doesn't want to do anything too bad in case it gets 'broadcast' here, where I tend to get more support than him!!

spots · 12/10/2004 09:03

I like this thread.

A few incendiary moments won't put me off I fear. There are still so many more fantastic threads than there are dodgy ones...and the quality of 'community' somehow hangs around regardless.

And I invariably need the loo as soon as I sit down to mumsnet so I suppose I should credit you all with keeping me regular...

clary · 12/10/2004 09:15

I love MN too...what was the strawberry thread?

Clayhead · 12/10/2004 09:19

this is the original strawberry thread, I think I think there are a few more though...

GeorginaA · 12/10/2004 09:21

Clayhead · 12/10/2004 09:21

Clayhead · 12/10/2004 09:22

sorry, posts crossed!

GeorginaA · 12/10/2004 09:22

grin

JuniperDewdrop · 12/10/2004 09:26

For all the advice I recieve and see given

For the laughs and the tears (including the ones welling up now after reading this thread)

for the support and kindness

for knowing someone's there

for hearing both sides

for the openess

for the diversity

I could go on and on but basically it's helped RL not hindered it. I still go out as much as b4 and drink coffee with live people but I still feel you're all real iykwim?

thanks for starting this thread Yorkiegirl, it was needed
