Me and DH are still undecided on names. Am 32 weeks and at this rate DS2 will be called baby XXXX for years lol!!!

We have a small list, some I love but DH hates, some he loves and I hate.

So far we have...

Callum
Reece
Leon
Eden
Troy

DS and DDs have welsh and irish names if that helps any.. thanks

Sparklygothcat, my apologies for hijacking your thread but we are in the same situation. I'm 25 weeks today, it's a boy and we can not agree on a name. We had a girl's name before I was even pregnant.

We have:

Adam
William
Jacob

We are a German-NZ/English family, so the name needs to work in both languages (and my parents need to be able to pronounce it, which means no "th" ), baby will have an English last name.

Any thoughts on the names on our list or other suggestions???

NappiesGalore · 17/09/2007 07:27

Gracelo, those are all quite nice.

seeker · 17/09/2007 07:37

Patrick. I'm going to keep saying Patrick until someone else likes it! I think it's a lovely name - and it's popular in France, so maybe in other continental European countries as well?

BTW - I think Eden is a girl's name - so maybe others might as well? There are a lot of Callums and Reece's around - (5 Callums in ds's year 2 group of 50!)

sparklygothkat · 17/09/2007 12:18

Eden was a name that DS came up with, one of his best mates at his old school was called Eden and he was male

Gracelo, I think you should be in charge of all mumsnet baby names - good choices.

Also, Sean, Thomas, Joe

Gracelo · 17/09/2007 15:51

Thanks. I'm glad someone likes our names. MIL didn't like Adam although that wouldn't prevent us using it. She'll love and spoil him to bits no matter what he'll be called in the end. William seems to be quite popular in England but not (yet?) in Scotland where we are, and I had an grandfather called Wilhelm.
Bessie, I really like Thomas, but it's out of the question for family reasons. I like Sean too, but I would have to say "Sean, as in Sean Connery" in Germany everytime I tell the name to someone.

I have an inkling it might turn out be an Adam.

LongDeadMotherofHarryP · 17/09/2007 22:08

Gracelo - Oscar might work?

MrsThierryHenry · 18/09/2007 19:18

Howsabout Horatio?

hahahaha! only joking.

I rather like James and Edward myself.

lapsedrunner · 18/09/2007 19:20

John

MuffinMclay · 18/09/2007 20:44

Gracelo - I love all 3, but William is by far the best.

I'm only 20 weeks, and don't even know if dc2 is a boy or girl, but dh and I cannot find a single boy's name that we agree on, that doesn't offend someone, or which doesn't clash with our surname.

Gracelo · 19/09/2007 07:00

Thanks everybody for their suggestions. James is on our extended list, also Edward for a possible middle name.

Muffin, William is my favourite also, but dp isn't entirely convinced yet. It would also be a reference to my grandfather (who is a towering figure in my family history) but dd1's middle name is my great grandmother's name and he thinks it's time his family gets a mention.

It is just soooo much more difficult to find a boys name than a girls name.
Have you settled on a name for a girl?

MuffinMclay · 19/09/2007 08:28

I have so many girls names that I want to use. Favourites at the moment include

Eleanor
Isobel/Isabel
Elizabeth
Emily
Millicent (dh hates this though)
Iris

I'd love to call dc2 James, if a boy, but there are already a few of those in the family.

Bessie123 · 19/09/2007 09:24

Muffin, Isabel is a really lovely name; will it bother you if there are lots of Isabels in dd's class? it is very popular. Iris is nice, too.

Gracelo · 19/09/2007 09:38

Muffin, if we had a second girl her name would have been Rose Isabella. I also love Eleanor and I like Millicent (but dp looked horified when I mentioned it).
I quite like Ada, but dp would have put his foot down there.

Are you going to find out your baby's gender?

MuffinMclay · 19/09/2007 10:42

I love Rose but it was my father's evil stepmother's name, so it is a no-no for us.

I think I am going to find out the sex. If it is another boy we'll need all those remaining weeks to come up with a name.

Nbg · 19/09/2007 10:58

I love Leon.

We have picked Devon and Cole so far.

I also saw a Franz on tv the other night and quite liked that.

Boys names are too hard

doesmybumlookbiginthis · 19/09/2007 11:38

Gracelo, I have an Edward and a William and I live in Scotland. Edward loves the fact that he is only one in school with the name.

Gracelo · 19/09/2007 16:18

I like that William would be quite rare in Scotland. dd1's name was way down the list when she was born but has gone up big time since then. There are loads of very Scottish names around us, the type of name I can neither pronounce nor spell.

Leon has been very popular in Germany for years now. German parents seem to be divided between English names (Kevin, Robin, Colin, Justin...) and very old German names (Emil, Anton, Otto, Friedrich...)

Pity, that Rose isn't an option, Muffin, I'm quite sad that I have to let the name go.

lemonaid · 19/09/2007 16:29

Gracelo -- whose last name is your DC getting? Just that ours have/will have DH's last name so I reckon that his family is already getting a pretty big mention and it's only fair for "family" first or middle names to come from my side.

newy · 19/09/2007 16:32

We knew we were having a boy but didn't decide on a name til he was 8 days old! We were going for Dylan or Jake but called him Sonny in the end. We also liked jesse so he got off lightly

GooseyLoosey · 19/09/2007 16:35

What about Cormac (irish SIL called her ds2 Connor and Ds3 Cormac)?

Gracelo · 19/09/2007 16:45

Lemonaid, ours are having dp's last name, mainly because mine sounds quite harsh even in German, has an Umlaut which gets mispronounced all the time and Word spellcheck comes up with rather strange suggestions when it encounters my name . I agree that this is already a big mention of his family and I do use this as an argument.
I'm sure if I have a carefull look at his well-researched family tree I might find a William, or two.

wilsony · 20/09/2007 09:09

Sorry to hijack your thread but Im having my baby tomorrow and we still havent decided on a name AAARRRGGGHHH!!! Dont know the sex but our shortlist for girls names is down to Millie and Dylan (I know its traditionally a boy's name but we like it for a girl). 'Short' list for boys is down to:-

Frazer
Corey
Spencer (not sure about this but DH likes it)
Austin (DH worried about Austin Powers)
Rowan
Ellis

What do you think?

Bessie123 · 20/09/2007 11:07

I like Spencer best out of those (is that helpful?)

EmsMum · 20/09/2007 11:17

Rowan is nice, so is similar sounding Rohan.

We once had neighbouring kids called Spencer and Tracey [hum]. Suppose Mark woulda been worse
