He has lost one top front tooth, and the other is wobbly.

squirt osme lemon on it

totaleclipse · 09/09/2007 20:53

I cant do that he will know, he has very sensitive taste buds, he would'nt know I had put something on them, but he would know they taste different and would never eat an apple again.

lemon or orange juice

I'll get flamed, but sugar syrup will also work

TooTicky · 09/09/2007 20:56

My ds2 hates oranges but he doesn't notice when I rub his apple with fresh orange.

WigWamBam · 09/09/2007 20:56

He won't taste the lemon juice.

The other alternative is to buy the pre-packaged apple slices.

Or give him grapes instead!

Threadworm · 09/09/2007 20:57

Put slices in a little sandwich bag and make sure you squish all the air out before sealing.

mamazon · 09/09/2007 20:58

cut them into quarters and then put it bac k together..then wrap in cling film

Furball · 09/09/2007 20:58

buy one of these (on the left) don't cut the apple all the way to the bottom then fold all the segments back up and wrap the whole looking apple in clingfilm.

DumbledoresGirl · 09/09/2007 20:59

I wrap pieces in cling film, making sure the air is fully excluded. It sometimes works.

moondog · 09/09/2007 20:59

Pack a sharp knife.

Sugar syrup??????

totaleclipse · 09/09/2007 21:05

lol, not surepacking a sharp knife would go down too well in the canteen of a primary school

I will try the clingfilm, he is not keen on grapes or bananas, and cant afford strawberries everyday.

I tell my DS that school apple slices are meant to be brown I have used orange juice and done the quantering and putting back together again thing as well.

Blandmum · 09/09/2007 21:31

I know, I know MN, I don't use it myself, I only ever use fruit juice.

But sugar syrup would work!

and so nice to see you here!

notsofarnow · 09/09/2007 21:58

I've just bought the lock seal boxes bought some form morrisons when they were on bogof and bought some more in cheapy shop. They are air tight so they don't go brown. Tried it at home before I sent them to school and it worked was gobsmaked but it worked.

The little ones only cost me 59p each.

Jossiejump · 09/09/2007 22:38

I use the pampered chef cutter that furball suggested-you can buy the cutters in other places as well-it really works

lilolilmanchester · 09/09/2007 22:41

Slice, either yourself or with a fancy cutter. Put it back together, wrap first in clingfilm as already suggested, then overwrap in tin foil.

spitzhund · 09/09/2007 22:47

make a fruit salad in a light syrup
or
give him a banana

MrsScavoEatsPizza · 09/09/2007 22:50

McDonalds know the answer.

I once found a McDonals fruit bag in my car a week after we'd been to McD's, and the fruit was pristine!

UnquietDad · 09/09/2007 22:58

Yeah, but they probably spray it in some genetically-modified molecular preservative boiled up deep in a Frankenstein lab somewhere by a cackling Ronald McDonald.

expatinscotland · 09/09/2007 23:02

Either squirt lemon on it or a drop or two of lemon oil.

Kaloo20 · 09/09/2007 23:06

ohhhh I want an apple wedger, where can you buy then in the UK

handlemecarefully · 09/09/2007 23:07

Silly question perhaps - but what is wrong with a whole apple?

spitzhund · 09/09/2007 23:09

hmc, wobbly teeth.

UnquietDad · 09/09/2007 23:09

says in the OP - totaleclipse's DS has a wobbly tooth!

spitzhund · 09/09/2007 23:10

But there is the whole fruit family to choose from
