My dd has lost bouncy ben, her cuddly precious close friend and is devastated. we satyed with friends in london at the weekend and somewhere between there and home we have lost him.
We went to battersea park and then stopped at reading services on the M4 going west on the way back. i can only think he must have fallen out of the car when we stopped.
he is accompanied by a rather manky cotton holey banket and must have been seen by someone.
I called both places and they have had nothing handed in but i thought maybe a mumsnetter might have felt sorry for them and offered them a home - we have in the past been known to rescue a small cuddly dog from the motorway and are rather hoping that might have happened here.
This is rather a despreate last hope but was anyone in Battersea Park on Sunday morning or Reading services car aprk near the hotel on sunday lunch time? there were hundreds of people maybe one of them was a mumsnetter - we are desperate....TIA.

Oh no

We lost dd's precious, loved, cuddely dog called 'woof' when she was around 2.5 We searched everywhere, and contacted ELC to see if they had any left in stock, or even if they had an old display model kicking around in their offices anywhere. We went on ebay, put posters up (she lost him walking in the woods locally) and MIL went to carboot sales to find an identical replacement for months.

She cried every night, it was heartbraking. In the end we bought a new toy. A bear, in similar colours and materials to 'woof'. We included a little knapsack with an outfit and little hairbrush in it. Then one day, bear arrived. He had been sent by his dear friend 'woof' Woof was on his travels and was unable to come home just yet, so had asked his dear friend 'bear' to come and keep you company. Look, I even brought a change of clothes and a hairbrush. Please can I stay?
From that moment on, 'woof' was forgotten (mostly) and to this day (nearly 2 years later) 'bear' is dd's beloved constant companion.

We played it safe though - we bought 2 bears, one lives in the airingcupboard (just in case)

If it's any help we can send a postacrd from Germany pretending to be from Bouncy Ben having an adventure abroad and maybe something from over here to keep her company until he gets back from his adventure...

AttilaTheMum · 16/08/2007 11:45

If you do manage to get a new one can you tell DD he's gone to a health farm to get fit and have a makeover - you could show her some before & after pics from adverts - to prepare her for the 'new' Bouncy Ben!

fluffyanimal · 16/08/2007 11:59

bumping for you clutteredup in the hope you find bouncy ben. xx

kindersurprise · 05/09/2007 23:02

Just sent you an email, will be happy to send your DD a postcard from Germany.

Someone suggested this book earlier, I have to second that idea. Felix goes on a world tour, and his best friend Sophie misses him loads, but is comforted by the letters that Felix sends. My DD is 5 and loves the Felix books.

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/09/2007 23:11

Poor junior clutteredup I hope you managed to find a replacement bouncy ben.

I just saw this thread ans was really touched by the thought of a poor wee girl without her favourite toy...I've been searching ebay for you tonight but can't see any the same. similar, but not the same

We've got three ty cheetah's in case of such emergencies. DS loves them all and calls them Charlie1, Charlie2 and Emergency Charlie.

I hope you find a replacement soon

HE'S BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone for all your help and concern, sorry for not posting sooner but we were away and got back the day before the Dc were back at school and pre school so my feet have only touched the ground today.
The most bizarre thing happened , the night we got back I was sorting things for pre school and I looked in her pre school bag and there was BOuncy Ben, I could have sworn I looked there as we looked everywhere more than twice over. She had been so good while we were away and swallowed the whole story of him going away, we had even found a replacement bunny, Bouncy Bella, his sister on holiday to look after her till he returned ( aka she forgot). I could swear that he had been away and returned as we still can't work out how he got into the pre school bag, I had goose pimples when I found him. I suspect DH had something to do with it as he has a habit of 'tidying up' what he considers to be clutter!! -thus the name I'll admit. Anyway she was thrilled to see him return, we set him up with a backpack, some carrots and the dinosaur from the Natural History Museum we found him with - see I'm sure he went back to fetch it for her - so she's total;y convinced he just went holidaying, thanks much to Wandering Trolley for the postcard from London which was on the doorstep when we got back.
Thank you so much for your concern, she was so terribly sad but now she's a happy content little girl again and I'm thrilled.
even if we do have 2 bunnies now
