They are drivin me nuts - they (2 ds) have had the cars in, then out, then in, then out. I can't get them to fit in. they can't get the tyres back on. I never saw them in two pieces, and I can't get them small enough to go back in. grrrr. Wish I'd never bought them....

DD has the dolly ones (shoes & trainers), I'm sick of finding little accessories all over the place. Plus there is something not quite right about removeable feet on dolls!

Tigi · 14/08/2007 21:28

I can't figure out where and how the fourth wheel should hide.

CAnnot believe any one would buy that tat! (sorry)
Feel sorry for teachers having to cope witha class full of kids who keep producing toys from inside their shoes.
Who ever came up with that idea at Clarks needs shooting!

luckily ds only knew some of the shoes out of the amazing 6 different pairs to choose from (never had that in his life before, normally there is only one pair in his size!) We said we wouldn't tell him which ones had the cars in until after he had chosen which ones were the comfiest and best fit. Luckily we got ones with light on. I don't quite know what Clarks are upto as pressure from a child to buy shoes whether they are right or not just because they have some gimmick in the heel is not right

ChasingSquirrels · 14/08/2007 21:30

agree with doublebluff.
my 4.10y saw the advert and wanted some, I told him they were £4 more than normal shoes and if he wanted them he could pay the extra with his pocket money - he quickly changed his mind!

Tigi · 14/08/2007 21:32

I know that DoubleBluff, but the shoes are actually very good, and they were the only ones in ds size. Younger ds had the choice of 3, and these actually fit him the best, and they do look nice on, a big consideration when they wera shorts too!

dd desperately wants the doll ones for school as she knows she needs a new pair. i hate them, so expensive and purely gimmick.

at least at dd's school, if we can afford a pair when the time comes, they wear indoor shoes during class, so she won't be able to fiddle with them.

Gobbledigook · 14/08/2007 21:34

God, they aren't in school shoes are they?!

I'm getting StartRite

LIZS · 14/08/2007 21:34

Another good reason not to visit Clarks !

Tigi · 14/08/2007 21:35

Start rite are more expensive still though....

I think it's a ghastly gimmick, too, but have ended up with a pair of them for each of my older children.

I allowed ds1 free choice and he went for a pair of trainers with those cars in them. He loves them and can dismantle and reassemble them without any trouble. He is coming up for 7yo.

As for dd, she needed school shoes for September, and the only suitable pair had the doll toy in them. It has, howevr been confiscated as a result of her misbehaviour with it, and will only be returned - in the shoes - when she starts wearing them to school.

I just hope that the 'window' in the heel won't wear out. I shall be thoroughly annoyed if I have to buy new shoes because the gimmick wore out before the shoes did.

Tigi · 14/08/2007 21:38

Thats what I though too, pretty candles, about the heel, and quizzed the staff, but she said they were actually very good and solid.

Anyway, I would take them back if they don't wear well. My school shoes (from Clarkes) will usually last a year if feet don't grow in the meantime.

Gobbledigook · 14/08/2007 21:43

Well I'm not buying into their nasty gimmick - the idea stinks, it really does

I'm still going for Startrite - I think they are better shoes anyway. I detest Clarks - the fitters are crap, the shoes are crap, dull, old fashioned and they never, ever have the size you need for your child.

So there

Gobbledigook · 14/08/2007 21:44

Can you imagine the nightmare teachers will have with reception kids sat on the carpet, supposed to be listening, but instead taking their shoes off (and probably ending up putting the wrong ones back on again) and fannying around with the toys.

I bet you there'll be letters going out from schools saying keep the toy at home. The rule generally is no taking toys into school anyway isn't it?!

Trinityrhino · 14/08/2007 21:46

could someone link me please
I have no idea what you lot are talking about and it sounds both intriguing and something I would like to avoid buying for dd1 lol

Gobbledigook · 14/08/2007 21:47

Go to the Clarks website and follow the link - you can see the advert on there.

Pinkchampagne · 14/08/2007 21:47

My DS's are desperate for these shoes with hidden cars, but I just know they would be a nightmare!

MamaMaiasaura · 14/08/2007 21:49

startrite arent really much more expensive than clarks. Ended up with bootleg for ds shoes and geox trainers for casual.. had to get rugby boots too. Was a very expensive day incl unform.

Trinityrhino · 14/08/2007 21:50

OH MY GOD
wtf are clarks on!!!

I dont think I will ever buy a clarks shoe ever again on principle that they have become fucking stupid!

What a ridiculous idea, I can't believe it
