They are drivin me nuts - they (2 ds) have had the cars in, then out, then in, then out. I can't get them to fit in. they can't get the tyres back on. I never saw them in two pieces, and I can't get them small enough to go back in. grrrr. Wish I'd never bought them....

speccy the space ship one werent loads of little bits tho. Ds had them too and he also had to leave them at home. The toy wasnt the reason for buying them tho, they were the ones that fitted best. LUckily for me ds doesnt want velcro anymore and want laced school shoes

Found a fab shop last year in Southampton who stock a wide range of kids shoes so can avoid clarks and having only their choice.

the thing that pee'd me off was that in the shop, i had dd's feet measured, then said to the assistant that we'd wait until the end of august to get school shoes, but she showed dd the shoes anyway saying 'have you seen these, they've got a doll in them'. i was sat there, scowling at her

i know dd would have seen the advert on the telly at some point (it was played in the interval before shrek the third ), but i'm sure if i'd told her it wasn't in school shoes, she'd be none the wiser.

Bought them for ds1 two years ago for his school shoes. Typically other boy had same shoes, other boy loses one part of toy, suprise surprise ds1 toy goes missing and other boyt 'finds' he has 'found' his would NEVER buy them again!!!

Completely with you GDG . There will be tears and tantrums when theye get lost/borrrowed/broken in the playground,a dn that's just the staff ! Clarks never fit dd anyway so we go to a nice independent shop who take more trouble .

I worked for Clarks for about 13 years and I can honestly say that by the time I left there were some right a**holes there.

I was not sorry to leave would love to tell you all the circumstances of my leaving but if I did that they would know exactly who I am.

DoubleBluff · 14/08/2007 22:08

I think Clarks are overpiced and don't last.
DS's have got M&S school shoes this year. Had them from there last year and they were fab. ALSO
for those of you with two DS's in diff sze socks,, their socks (grey school ones) have the shoe size printed inside the sock - what a gret idea for whwn it comes to the nightmare job of sock sorting!

Gah
DD got the trainers (not her school choes thank goodness) with the dolls in the other day.

To be fair, the other pair we tried did not fit but these ones did.

Oh her face when I said she could have them, worth every penny frankly tho DH (and I) think it's bananas. Just what she loves tho, a tiny doll with tinier clothes (mummy I thought it would be like Polly Pocket) and a little cardboard house in the shoebox lid....

Can't get the box for the bits back in the shoe with the handly bit on tho...

DS1 is more sensible (or loves this sort of thing less) and opted for some plainer trainers (the toy ones are a bit silvery for an 8yo like him lol)

We love our local Clarks shop, a little indie chain and they do a fab offer - buy 10 pairs, get one free. We have had at least 4 free pairs

hoxtonchick · 14/08/2007 22:11

ds has cottoned onto these, but unfortunately for him we got his school shoes last week . i have said he can have some for his next pair of school shoes but am hoping he will have forgotten by then!

when i took ds for shoes he was desperate for the car shoes but we didn't tell him which ones came with the cars. We asked him about 4 times if the cars ones were OK and everytime he said no, they hurt his feet. Now, if he had known that they were the ones, he wouldn't of cared whether they hurt his feet or not and we would of probably ended up buying them.

chocolatefudgecake · 14/08/2007 22:21

oooh haven't seen these but remember when i was a kid i had these shoes with a window in the heel and a princess or something in it. they had a key so you could change the picture - they were called magic key or something
does anyone else remember these? i used to love mine

I think it is a cheap and tacky ploy to get you to buy their shoes. My mother came back with a pair for ds3 and I took one look and emailed clarks and also phoned their customer service. I was so disgusted. They are no better than a cheap christmas cracker toy. It's not fair to put them in school shoes when children are not usually allowed to take toys into school and if you keep the toy at home then what's the point. A rediculous idea. I have now cut my nose to spite my face as I have returned them and the only shoes they have in ds3's size are those shoes. I still won't have them though.

EscapeFrom · 03/09/2007 13:33

I had magic key shoes.

Then I had Hectictocs, and they had a piece of paper with the dance on, and a roly ball game on the heel.

I was rather spoilt until I was 11

Furball · 03/09/2007 13:42

they were on bbc news yesterday
