does absolutely everyone on this planet suit them except me?
I'm small and fat with big boobies and big legs unfortunately.
i brought one of these dress-top type things home a couple of months back and (although both little daughters thought mummy was suddenly being very fashionable)my son (7)told me i looked "ridiculous Mummy".!!!
Hubbie thought the same. He said I look nice in pretty v neck t shirts and skirts.
do i go along with the fashion and buy these things or what?
there's nothing else in the shops(or should I say "Evans"?)I know they're trying to stay fashionable but there are some of us who just don't look right in the sort of clothes only size 8 to 14 do look nice in.

primark = skint or frugal

NEW look = i think i've got taste but really i look shit - becuase its shit ...but it comes with a gold belt

paulaplumpbottom · 26/07/2007 23:41

Maybe go for a top that is much longer and wear it with opaque tights and heels instead

paulaplumpbottom · 26/07/2007 23:43

Also I think a solid color is more flattering, make sure tights and shoes are black

islandofsodor · 26/07/2007 23:44

Dd aged 5 look sgorgeous and fashionable in hers.

I would not buy one in a month of Sundays.

j20baby · 26/07/2007 23:45

i've only bought the tops this year as i'm pg, but not the leggings, legs too fat. i never go with trends, normally go with last seasons trends(when they're on sale)

j20baby · 26/07/2007 23:45

oh yes dd aged 7 has got loads of them and they look nice on her

LadyOfTheFlowers · 26/07/2007 23:47

lol @ custy.

cutekids · 26/07/2007 23:48

Yes,must admit my two daughters (7&9) look gorgeous in them. I see the odd slim girl/lady who looks lovely. Just not anyone over 10 stone...surely? (sorry if that's insulting anyone!)!!!

yes indeedy.
I saw someone the other day I was convinced she was pregnant and I have a trained eye and I was this close >< from saying something.
then she said oh thank goodness I am not going to have any more children!

really, they make you look pg. and not in a good way

LadyOfTheFlowers · 26/07/2007 23:49

im sure custardo will explain in due course....

PellMell · 26/07/2007 23:56

so I will confess to having once puffed up my huge tum as far as I could could manage (without fart like noises escaping from my mouth) just so I could pass for being pregnant.
All because I passed an old boyfriend and was all too aware of my four extra stones and 3 extra bellies wobbling around in a seudo maternity top.

PellMell · 26/07/2007 23:57

or should that be pseudo?

cutekids · 27/07/2007 00:01

well.Pellmell...that's a point...You can stand in the shopping centre, rubbing your belly whilst tucking into the biggest pasty without feeling any guilt cos "I'm pregnant"!!!

I'm tall and curvy (big bum, big boobs, bit of a tum) and I just look completely ridiculous in this style. I look pregant - no, really - I Look PREGNANT...people stand up for my on buses and old ladies in shops ask me when I'm due. I much prefer little tee-shirt tops and skirts too, cutekids.

Sheherazadethegoat · 27/07/2007 08:47

it is a revolting look. i hate the whole dress over trousers thing.

but i am not judging oh no not me.

hippipotami · 27/07/2007 12:48

I have huge norks, big belly (no not pregnant) as well as wide hips, big bum and big legs. However, as I am over 6ft tall this fashion suits me fab as on me the tops are normal lenght! (well, just past the bum) whereas 'normal' tops sit on the hips on me and look ridiculous.

Gawd, I have just painted a hideous picture of myself havent' I

But I hasten to add that I have avoided any form of 'smock' style top or anything with a waistline directly under the boobies. I am however loving the longer line blouses etc that Evans are doing. They are the ones that suit me well.

i have the same problem.
i am very tall and fat which means that i look pregnant without the help of a bloody maternity top. plus they aren't long enough on me to wear over leggings but look plain silly over normal trousers.

i do wish a new trend would start up soon.
