My cousin gets married at the end of October in Las Vegas and then they are having a reception here on 6th November.

I want to look fab, I want people to look and think 'doesn't she look great' e.t.c.
Yes I know it does sound very vain but I am sick of goiung to things like this and always regretting what I wore, how i did my hair e.t.c. and so I am determined to impress.

Firstly I need to lose a stone in weight. I have been watching what i eat for the past few weeks and have now got an exercise dvd too.

I need to decide what to do with my hair

I need to find an outfit that will look great but that I am comfortable in

I need to sort my makeup out.

So anyone up for the challenge ???

Oh this all has to be done as cheaply as poss by the way

I like all of them, but I think that the black River Island one might be a bit short ? Especially as it has a strappy sleeveless top half. I always think that leaving a bit to the imagination is much sexier and more sophisticated than having it all on show, regardless of your body shape.

My favourite is the £70 minky coloured one. I think it's really beautiful and very classy.

nutcracker · 12/09/2004 20:03

LOL Beety. It's not quite my thing either but thanks anyway.
Think you are right about the clingy silky one though. Unless i manage to lose my spare tyre by then it would look awful.

I really must go to River Island too, haven't been in there in ages.

Well i'm not that keen on my legs but then i don't have a generally good opinion of myself so.

Dp thinks my legs are fab and so did the lads at school from what i can remember . O.k, that was 10 yrs ago, but i'm only half a stone heavier at the mo.

Despite its silky-ness, the mink one is empire line so it sill skim nicely over any midriff bits you want to keep under wraps. The pale pink one, in the first link, might be a bit of a basic cut for anyone who isn't super toned.

blossomhill · 12/09/2004 20:09

Doesn't silk tend to higlight lumps and bumps though?

I'm getting soooo excited thinking of trying all these lovely dresses on.

This time I'm going to concentrate on how I look rather than fuss over how the kids are dressed. I usually spend so much time making them look just so and then within 5 min of being there they are covered in pop and chocolate.

Suppose i'll have to do you lot a before and after piccie to say thanks

Can't show you a piccie of me now, i don't have any (oh what a shame )

OP posts:
blossomhill · 12/09/2004 20:14

Oh, go on!

NomDePlume · 12/09/2004 20:15

Normally yes, but the empire-line cut of it means that it 'hangs' from just below the bust. A sort of baby-doll style, so there'll be enough fabric in the skirt part to skim loosely (but not swamp you).

nutcracker · 12/09/2004 20:16

No honestly I don't have any of me really.
Can't remember the last time i had my piccie took actually.

Have loads of the kids on photobucket.com but me no no no, they might ban me

Take someone with you when you try things on - someone who understands what you want - otherwise you may enter that strange hypnotic trance like state when you end up buying something and wondering what on earth you were thinking when you get it home. Also, don't go for anything high necked if you have a bust - what a waste. And finally - think SHOES at all times before buying something - they can make or break an outfit, and give you tons of confidence if you get them right. My biggest piece of advice FWIW is DON'T buy anything that makes you feel self conscious, even if everyone else tells you that it looks great. Otherwise on the day that is all you will think about, rather than relaxing and enjoying yourself.

coddychops · 12/09/2004 21:05

I owuld say uness youa re think up top ( shoulsers and tops of arms ) dont do sleevelss/halterneck
it looks awful

should be beanned for anyone over a size 10 IMNHO

coddychops · 12/09/2004 21:05

thin up top

fabarooney · 12/09/2004 21:05

Don't wear black if you want to be noticed. It's a winter do so every other woman will be in a LBD. Long, flared or a-line skirt will hide a more generous bum and thighs. Worn with heels it will also make your legs appear longer. Corset top to give shape to the top half and emphasise the waist and bust. Short, fitted jacket (single breasted, one button if poss) to go over it all. Think gorgeous, rich winter colours like ruby red or chocolate brown. Agree totally with the idea of taking someone along with you when shopping AS LONG as they are the sort of person that will honestly tell you if your bum looks big in something.

coddychops · 12/09/2004 21:06

I would nutty
am known as a ruthless and speedy shopper

nutcracker · 12/09/2004 21:11

Coddy - I have afeeling i'd have a Trinny and Susanna moment if i took you

I will see if I can persuade my friend to come shopping with me, as she is quite good at picking out stuff and she knows how crap i am at shopping.

Shoes, yes must get a good pair of those too, Oooh and a bag. Could do with jewellery too

I dont think you should wear black as you want to stand out and look amazing......have a look at the colours around at the moment and see what you feel good in. What is the budget?

nutcracker · 12/09/2004 21:29

Well i'm not really sure what the budget is. Wouldn't really want to go over 50 quid (not including shoe) but probably would if it was amazing.

The cheaper the better really, but I do want to look amazing if at all poss.
