Where do you buy the majority of your childrens clothes from?

I buy the majority of clothes for my children from Asda. I like the clothes in there, they are very reasonably priced and I find it convenient buying clothes whilst doing my weekly shop. The other thing I like about the George collection is that they change the collection every few weeks. I love the uniforms as well.

Tescos and Asdas, with some Adams and M@S, the odd 'posh' outfit from Next or Monsoon, they each have one jumper from GAP which I got in the sales.

hmb · 12/09/2004 17:04

Oh and lots of hand me downs

zaphod · 12/09/2004 17:10

Get a lot for dd in Next sale, used to like their baby boy stuff, but find that it all looks the same, from one year to the next. Our Tesco now does clothes, and I like the quality and price of the baby stuff there. Primark are good for boys, my big boys go through several pairs of jogging pants a year (sliding tackles tend to rip the knees), so I buy cheap ones. I wish we had Asda here, but there is a big one opening near my sister in London, so that's just as good, as she is always buying them clothes.

Next staff shop DH works for Next and we get 25% off!!
Or TK Maxx, Tesco, or Primark, or Help the Aged / Oxfam

nutcracker · 12/09/2004 17:18

H&M, Asda, Next and Adams

I buy stuff from:

Tesco (convenient when shopping but range for boys is much smaller than for girls but that's the same for everywhere I find) - the little fleeces for £2 are brilliant and over the summer I bought the plain t-shirts for £1 so if they got stained I just threw them and bought another one (a bit frivolous I know)!!! I've just bought loads of shorts for the boys for next summer - 50p each!!!

Next (but I hate the things that have 'next' written on!) Great for boys jeans and trousers though.

Vertbaudet - got a great winter coat for Ds1 last year and the stuff is a little bit different and reasonably priced.

Designers at Debenhams (get Junior J and John Rocha t-shirts and some jeans in there).

Benetton - our local one has closed so now have to trek to Wilmslow but I find their stuff washes really well and keeps its colour.

I used to love Linea stuff from House of Fraser but our local one has stopped doing kids stuff so it would mean going into Manchester to Kendals which I never do.

I've never tried H&M - is it good?

KristinaM · 12/09/2004 17:41

H&M, Asda

Toothache · 12/09/2004 17:46

Mainly Tesco (DH works there) and Next. But really anywhere that I see a bargain.

Gingerbear - You get a 25% discount at Next????? I've always liked you.... got along with you.... thought you were the best Mumsnetter ever... grovel grovel ...

Gingerbear · 12/09/2004 17:49

Hello Toothy!!! Where have you been? I have missed you.

(if you want anything fromn Next it has to be done furtively as 25% is only for family - folk have been sacked for buying for friends!!)

Gingerbear · 12/09/2004 17:50

How are you getting along with the Motherease nappies?

Gingerbear · 12/09/2004 18:40

Oh, I forgot about pumpkin patch - try to wait for the sale though.

roisin · 12/09/2004 18:54

I've seen some OK boys' clothes in Tesco, but the trousers/shorts seem to be cut very large on the waist and (even with belts to hold them up) they look ridiculous on my boys, who are tall and slim.

Sozie · 12/09/2004 19:07

Mainly Tesco's and Adam's (at Sainsbury's branches). Some Gap and Next. However, lately TK Maxx have some great stuff imo. I tend to only buy sale stuff now as my 2 are complete muck magnets.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/09/2004 19:10

asda for vests and babygros (but john lewis for packs of long sleeved vests, i can't find them anywhere else). h&m and gap sale for jackets, dungarees socks etc.

Sozie · 12/09/2004 19:11

Ripley, I used to be an addict of Amalaika but slowly eased off. They do some lovely stuff though but dh was getting aggitated at the frequency of parcels

blossomhill · 12/09/2004 19:12

I bought my baby neice some things in Pumpkin Patch and I was very impressed. I just don't have one that local but will take a trip soon. I also like some of primark, mostly the girls things. The boys stuff just isn't as nice. Although pants and socks are good value.

Ha ha Sozie! I went through phases where I bought stuff from several different places all at once and I'd hide the parcels when they came in and put them in the closet, gradually putting the clothes in the closet! I bought so much last year that I had to put a whole lot on ebay this summer as I didn't realise how much there was! Made email friends with the owner of another site and bought tons off her as well. Found it great as you can buy designer gear for the same price as Next or Gap.

Ok, I'm an addict, and having 2 little girls doesnt help.

Tesco's, Asda, Mothercare, H&M is great, Gymboree, Monsoon for special stuff, Zara does fab clothes too, Vertbaudet and I love Pumpkin Patch but also a bit of a trek for me too.

Angeliz · 12/09/2004 20:18

Asda
H+M (FAVOURITE AS SO FUNKY)
Mothercare
Marks and Sperncers
Next (rarely)

misdee · 12/09/2004 20:20

i went into monsoon the other day as well. om my word, the girls clothes in there are so girly and lovely, but my girls would ruin them in 5 mins. might treat them to something for xmas tho.

Hulababy · 12/09/2004 20:53

Nest
Gap
George at Asda
Osh Kosh factory shop
M&S
Boots
Woolworths
A bit from Adams and Mothercare
TK Max - for girly summer dresses
Monsoon - for party/wedding wear

And then odd bits from various other places too.

misdee · 12/09/2004 20:58

does anyone else find that Adams t-shirts shrink upwards so they end up looking like crop tops?

Davros · 12/09/2004 21:46

Quick scan, only see one vote for Boden! I enjoy the catalogue but never buy from there. And not many for GAP. Interesting!

I'm a H&M fan and Woollies, my sis gets stuff from Tesco and handmedowns from friends as none are mad enough to have a baby at 43 so I benefit
