Came home this afternoon and found that my key would not work in the front door. Hubby jumped out of car and realised our back gate was unlocked, I then peered through our front window and saw the mess inside.

They stole all of our cameras, camcorders, playstation 2 gamecube, etc. My laptop with all of my stories on it.....they are all lost now. They went through my drawers and all of my underwear. Stole jewellery, etc. But the worst thing of all was that the camcorder tapes had footage of my to babies. Some of it we put on video, but my ds is 8 months and all the footage we had of him was still on the tapes. Now it has all gone. Photos of them both were on the digital camera and we will never see them again.

All this the night before we are due to go away on holiday. We should be flying to florida in the morning.

I am so upset.

So sorry, we had a scare with our camcorder when ds was a similar age I know how sick you must be feeling.

thankyou all for your kind messages.

I jus feel like crying...I feel terrible that our home has been invaded and our memories of our babies have been taken.

I will contact the radio station and see if we can get the tapes back.....doubt it though, I don't think burglars have a conscience. Another thing we've realised is our wedding photos were all on the laptop as they were digital. I only printed out two for the wall.

I think thi is a sad story but one we cab all learn from. Here are some of my tips to help prevent such tragic loss.

Baby albums, video tapes of them and special things like my sons first pair of shoes etc I keep in a safe that I bought from Argos for under £50. This is bolted to the wall. Inside the wardrobe, vut away the back usually only hardboard and it is out of site and not able to be taken. A 4 difit pin code opens it and I keep the keys in case the battery dies or password is lost in a can of backed beans. Yes, open a can the wrong way and then place it with your other cans it looks like a normal can most burglers will not go thrugh all your tin cans to see if they are empty or real and full.

Digital camera pics, download to PC burn to CD and keep that with special moments together with copies of video with a friend incase your house burns down.

Finally use a postcode marker pen it onyl shows up under UV light put your hosue number and postcode on the underside of all expensive things. Get stickers made up or printed from home pc to be a visual warning that your property is tracable back to you.

Finally whoever did this to you is in the local area. They will sell this off to make money, usually for drugs. In the comming weeks go to car boot sales in your area and see if any of your goods are for sale there. Report to police.

And sorry after all this your heading off to Florida at the worst time of the year with all these hurricanes (spelt wrong I think) about.

What a truly horrible thing, 2wildB, I'm really sorry. I hope the burglars have a glimmer of guilt and return your precious items to you.

How horrible for you! Try to enjoy your holiday in spite of all this (hoping the hurricane has moved on by the time you get there). Thinking of you and v v [angry & & on your behalf! How can people do this?!!!
