Came home this afternoon and found that my key would not work in the front door. Hubby jumped out of car and realised our back gate was unlocked, I then peered through our front window and saw the mess inside.

They stole all of our cameras, camcorders, playstation 2 gamecube, etc. My laptop with all of my stories on it.....they are all lost now. They went through my drawers and all of my underwear. Stole jewellery, etc. But the worst thing of all was that the camcorder tapes had footage of my to babies. Some of it we put on video, but my ds is 8 months and all the footage we had of him was still on the tapes. Now it has all gone. Photos of them both were on the digital camera and we will never see them again.

All this the night before we are due to go away on holiday. We should be flying to florida in the morning.

I am so upset.

2wildbabies · 10/09/2004 18:19

we are fully covered.......thank god!!!!

My parents have got the kids at the moment whilst we sort the house out. We are still waiting for the police to turn up......it's been 3 hours now!!!

I don't think we can postpone the holiday withpout paying any excess charges(which at the last minute will be scary!!) We will have to look into it.

How horrid for you all. I remember the awful feelings I had when we were burgled. I hope the police come round soon so you can at least get the process started.

What are you doing about your holiday? Do you reckon you will be all okay to still fly out? TBH once reported and the police has been there isn't much more to happen in the short term. Is there anyone at home nearby who can keep tabs on thigs for you? Or can you delay your flight by a day if necessary?

So sorry

JJ · 10/09/2004 18:23

Oh 2wildbabies, I'm so sorry to hear this. Huge huge sympathies.

Did you take out travel insurance? Give them a call if you did, otherwise, go. The distance will be good for you.

(Have fun in FL!)

ebbie22 · 10/09/2004 18:29

Just to let you know we are thinking of you, hope you are feeling as well as can be expected....where abouts do u live?
Do you need to borrow cam corder etc?

Flossam · 10/09/2004 18:35

Just so you don't expect anything too soon, burglarly isn't a top priority call for the police... I know you need to try and leave everything in one place for them to come and do fingerprints, it is a complete pain and quite insensitve. I remember what it was like for us too. Maybe try giving them another ring?

mckenzie · 10/09/2004 18:44

2wildbabies, i'm so sorry to hear your news, you poor thing. I can't think of anything profound to say to make you feel even the slightest bit better though. Only swear words come to mind.

Grommit · 10/09/2004 18:48

How awful for you - especially the video footage of your baby. What a nightmare poor you

nutcracker · 10/09/2004 18:52

NomDePlume · 10/09/2004 18:52

emmatmg · 10/09/2004 19:01

Metrobaby · 10/09/2004 19:10

How horrid for you. I don't know why people do this kind of thing.

Kayleigh · 10/09/2004 19:18

So sorry this has happened to you. Horrible.

serenequeen · 10/09/2004 19:38

oh how awful :(

krocket · 10/09/2004 19:38

oh god that is so horrible poor you. A similar thing happened to us except they broke in while we were asleep. We also lost a camera with shots of our DS in it and it sickened me that they had it. i feel so sorry for you, it makes you feel so sick and angry and upset doesn't it. I hope you can go on holiday and feel ok about anything (well as ok as possible in the circumstances)

Oooggs · 10/09/2004 19:59

I feel sick at this . I am so sorry. Ring the local radio station and get them to ask the 'burglers' to put the memory card from your digiatl camera in the post to them. They may have a conscience. You never know. Enjoy your holiday. Try not to let this ruin it.

GeorginaA · 10/09/2004 20:04

I feel sick too

So angry on your behalf, 2wildbabies

It has made me get off my arse and back up all my photo directories from my PC though (4 CDs worth!!) and I'm going to post them to my MIL for safe keeping tomorrow morning.
