Was it good? Boring but essential question!

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 12/07/2007 23:40

it was very good.

it was very condensed and that frustartes me a lot, plus they changed an important part of the story

but yes good!!!

jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 23:54

dd went to see it tonight - she said excellent but PoA was still her fave.

She too was miffed about Ron??

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 12/07/2007 23:57

ooh what about ron?

OP posts:
jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 23:57

they missed out making him a prefect which apparently "changes everything"

AlwaysWatchingCastawayAt2am · 12/07/2007 23:59

is it suitable for a fearless 7 year old to see?

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 12/07/2007 23:59

yes i agrre. they didn't even mention it

or that malfoy was one.
and they made toe post of inquisitorial squad voluntary which doesn't make sense.

and they missed out the quidditch ban.

OP posts:
filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 12/07/2007 23:59

no.

my 7 year old has seen all the others but there is no way he is seeing this for a long time. i was scared in bits!

Boredveryverybored · 13/07/2007 00:01

Was still a great film though!
And over 2hrs long as it is, thery couldn't have gotton everything in there.

Boredveryverybored · 13/07/2007 00:02

And def no to 7yr old I think. Its too dark and scary.

silkcushion · 13/07/2007 00:03

I didn't know it was out yet

BUGGER

Have to wait for the step kids to visit before we can go and that's TWO weeks.

The storyline in the book was scarier so I'm not surprised if it's a bit dark.

silkcushion · 13/07/2007 00:04

hmmmmm .............

Could see it this weekend and pretend we haven't already seen it when they come up.

or is that naughty?

Boredveryverybored · 13/07/2007 00:06

Nah..I'd do it

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 00:06

no -do it. you have to see it first to check it's suitable

OP posts:
silkcushion · 13/07/2007 00:09

good thinking ladies - I might just do that.

Night

cornsilk · 13/07/2007 00:09

Is it too scary for a 9 year old?

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 00:10

mmmm-maybe .

And they missed a lot of the really funny bits like clearing Grimmauld Place of creatures etc, the screaming portraits except they left the bit where Tonks knocks something over in the hall which wakes them up... why??
Ridiculous to not include the prefects part as it changes the dynamic between the friends.
Cho did not grass them up to Umbridge although it tied in neatly with her and Harry falling out.

It was a great film if you haven't read the book or if (unlike me because I'm a pedant ) you can distance yourself from the book in order to watch the film!

It is far scarier than the other films IMO and the plot harder to follow for the youngsters, there were quite a few children last night ranging from about 6 on, none of them seemed to be too traumatised but it does depend on your children and how sensitive they are. If in doubt talk to someone who has seen it and knows your dcs or go on your own first.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 13/07/2007 12:04

what annoys me about the way they cut so much out of the films, is that the story then lacks any subtlety. there are no clues to pick up on.
because they missed out the cleaning grimmauld place bit, they missed finding the locket which will be crucial in the 7th story i think. this is just one example.

OP posts:
Wisteria · 13/07/2007 12:15

There's just loads of stuff that we think is crucial and are gutted that it's not there, had this debate with dp after the film last night and he just really enjoys the films as he's not read the books.
I think the only way to look at it, is to feel really sorry for the people who haven't read the books because they are missing out on a truly great story for a watered down version. Maybe that's why she allows it, because it makes more people buy the books too [cynical emoticon]
