Dresses - why do you wear them?

Me and dp were having a Convo yesterday about this.
He believes dresses are stupid, silly to wear unless for an occasion such as prom, wedding, or going on a night out.
He believes they shouldn't be worn from day to day even if your just in the house.
His exception is 'if your a little girl. You put dresses on girls not women. When they're about 13 they should just stop wearing them!"

I obv disagree. I wear dresses round the house some days, easier than finding trousers and top to match. Leas effort with a dress! And also a dress can make me feel better sometimes too

They're comfy. I have very soft jeggings which are also comfy, but I can't wear them every day!

If you're curvy (regardless of being overweight or not), jeans and trousers are difficult to get the fit right, and often fall down or gape, or dig in the waist. Men don't tend to have that problem, given their lack of curves.

I prefer dresses because they are warmer, easier to move in, easier to run around in and climb things in parks in and less likely to drag on the ground and dig in and cause problems. I feel very very comfortable in my dresses and choose them for pretty much everything.

I do think it’s ok for a baby of one year old to be “ flashing her knickers or tights “. Why does this worry you?

Is your partner controlling in other aspects of your life or just you and your daughters clothing ?

I find them more comfy and I look awful in all trousers.

Also old ladies don't often wear dresses. I work in care and I've helped 6 older ladies put on 6 pairs of slacks this morning-not a dress between them. (A dress would have been easier in some cases but up to them)

Love dresses, so easy. No co-ordinating. Absolute favourite outfits are dresses in the winter with tights and boots, so cosy and comfy.

I suppose it depends on the type of dress. Dresses worn for proms or weddings are completely different to the type of dress most people would wear for every day.

I wear dresses because it's nice to have a change from jeans but I only wear jumper dresses, tunic or skater dresses with thick tights / leggings and boots. I don't tend to wear skirts as they are uncomfortable round the waist or hard to get the fit right. I always wear stretchy jeans, jeggings or harems for the same reason.
