Need to let off steam!!!! I sent my bichon frise to a residential dog training company in Wales(Royvon dog training) and I picked him up yesterday and he has not been taught anything and I paid £600 for this. I have never been so annoyed in all my life. I have spoken to the owner who was just snotty to me and when I said my dog has not been trained, he just walked away from me.

I cannot believe I have been ripped off.........what a horrible company. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always found the puppy to be more work looking after than the baby.

Don't worry nutty, you'll get one! It just takes a fair bit of organizing beforehand. the real downside , not that i want to put you off, they do cost quite a bit of money considering they're just pets but they are lovely. perhaps get one when you finish college? Or find someone relaible who could help you along with walking etc.(although walking the dog is one of the great pleasures of having a dog so you'd like to do it yourself probably)

Yes nutty I'm afraid I agree. A dog is a big comittment - in some ways it's harder than kids cos you can't take dogs everywhere with you eg shopping etc.

If I am working away I have a dog walker who takes her out from 9.30 until 12 noon. Then the nanny gets back early if she is out at around 4 so she only has a few hours alone. I do work from home a lot so she has company then all the time. As a puppy we didn't leave her alone much really, she went to a dog minder in the day when we were working!

Yeah will maybe have to leave it for a while.

Dd will put in another request for a cat now, but i'm really not keen.

Looks like it'll be goldfish at this rate

Any idea how much a dog walker would cost ??

CountessDracula · 27/08/2004 16:29

2wildbabies you can buy good books on dog training and do it yourself, 20 mins a day is all it takes plus being firm on walks with them and following through commands eg if you tell them to come and they don't, don't just give up! I found this one good

I found the classes a waste of time training wise as my pup just wanted to play! It was good fun though. How old is your bichon frise?

CountessDracula · 27/08/2004 16:30

Depends where you live, look in your local vet for cards. Anything between £5 and £12 per walk
